Shifter removal??

In order to access the bolts that hold the shifter in place, does this piece just snap into place?

What I know is you have to remove the whole unit you see on the photo.. from the CID screen to the armrest. Then you can get it out of the car and unscrew the shifter from the back side.

yep it's crazy every other BMW it's just like unclip the cover around it...

Thanks for the info. Have you done this before? Looking at these pics, I thought the piece would snap in and out??

I just removed the whole unit once for another job, so I didn't check how this cover is mounted.. but from what I see on your last picture, looks like the cover piece is plastic welded. So you would have to grind them welds off from the bottom.

Thanks for the info. So is it best to work from top to bottom to get the whole trim piece out? Speaker cover, display etc?

Trying to install these and get access to this connector by the shifer

Ah ok, for this install you definitely have to remove the whole center stack.. I also have these Buttons installed.

It's been some time. You have to remove speaker cover, display, cup holder, nfc pad, back seat, center console trim in the back, center armrest storage compartment, center arm rest itself.

I already have had the back seat out to take out the center arm rest leather and cubby. Also took out the cup holder before so it's likely not going to be too difficult (famous last words!)
