Hi,

Did anyone code their M850 instrument panel with the M5/8 look? If yes, did you use BimmerCode? I've seen someone on Youtube coded his M550 with Alpina dash but I'm interested in the M look vs Alpina.

If anyone coded their car, could you please advise what tool used and share some pictures to show how the screens look (comfort vs Sports +)? Thanks

This can be done, and I tried it on my iD7 X4 M40i. I don't do my own coding, but use codemybimmer. Canadian firm btw, located in Vancouver, although I usually work with Steve Ma, a super guy who's mostly in Hong Kong these days.

Anyway, Steve originally coded the Alpina IP. Later, I wanted to try the M layout. He did it, but there were incompatibility issues and I quickly reverted back to the standard layout.

I won't remember all the issues now, but I remember the location display at the bottom center of the IP was pushed to the right. The drive mode display (eco, comfort, sport) disappeared. The tach calibration and redline was off. And oddly, the tire temp display in the IP and Car Status menu disappeared. There may have been one or two other things which, as a total package, added up to something that didn't work for me. YMMV. On the flip side, one of the benefits of coding the M layout is that the HUD font changes to the M font, matching the IP. That was a big deal to a noodge like me.

Thanks for your response. Are you experiencing any bug issues with the M layout? In sport plus, do you get the same layout as the M5/M8? This is what I'm really interested in, the M sport layout, I don't care if the tachometer showed 200m/330km...

Do you have any pictures of M Layout in sport mode to share?

Ah, sorry, I think I had misunderstood. You're looking for the M Mode IP layout with the speedo and gear in the middle and tach on both sides? If so, no, I haven't seen that being coded. And yes, it is a great display in iD7.

I changed mine back to the M850 dash - strangely, it’s much nicer than both of these!
