Any lowering info yet?

Just got off the phone with MSS re. their adjustable springs and they said no M8 springs coming from them within the next 18 months or so (and likely never due to low volume).
Have not seen anything from H&R, Eibach or KW.

I know some of you are experimenting. Any news yet?

Reason why I am asking is that we are looking for some other wheels that make cleaning easier. Either 20" or 21"

Checked with HRE on their Flow Form wheels (don't want to go crazy of pricing and they are still lighter than stock forged wheels) and they have them coming in 21" and I can pre-order...

But it'll look stupid with aggressive offsets and the car sitting too tall...

I'll let you know tomorrow with pics but it's for a Comp Gran Coupe so I'm fairly sure that's not much help.

Ben mentioned that. Exciting to see your new whip properly setup!
Beautiful ride btw. Cant wait to see more pics...

Curious about the actual drop. 30mm? Ideally am hoping for adjustable springs in consideration of my wife's back.

This setup will only work for the GC (we think).

Needs a 2-door guinea pig. Ehloo?

I am waiting for the sets of custom springs from Carbahn that can drop the car max by inch (configurable as far as I understand). Not sure re: the ETA with all the virus hype here in Bay Area.

No offense to them. But I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.
Carbahn been lagging behind badly.
It is a new company that have to be built from the ground up where the competition are tough these days. Besides, BMW and other car manufacturers releasing new model almost every month.
Unlike back in the 80's when Steve Dinan starting Dinan.

As you can see, H&R themselves can't even catch up.

Lost the desire to be the guinea pig. Really enjoying the car on stock suspension and only reason that would push me to try something is if I got new wheels. I promised myself I would not order a set unless I sold atleast 1 set of wheels from my f85. I have 3 sets

That makes sense. Also recall that you are thinking 4 door for more practicality.

Personally I feel that the M8 with its wide hips/boxier rear needs a wider stance.
Looking form certain angles, that car some doesn't look quite right in stock form, unlike the M5.

Am also annoyed with the brake dust and want at least some wheels that are easy to clean.

Going to shuffle some cars around and thinking to get rid of the f85. Wife has a Tesla X at home so no need for another SUV. Might swap the f85 for a f90

I saw some renders of a widebody m8 and it did look so much better. The wheels are pain in the ass to clean and the brake dust is out of country. Wish I had CCB

Let me check if the brake pads are the same as F90.

If it is, you guys can use that Porterfield that ACG sold for the F90 guys.

I've sold and installed a few of them. The dust is way way better than stock.

You guys are making me feel better about insisting on CCB. Between the complaints on the F90 forum about squealing (which I experienced in my F85) and the brake dust you guys are describing, it almost makes the price worth it.

CCB are amazing. You also get them for a half of the retail price when you order them with the car.

Just received the adjustable springs from the UK to lower our M8 Coupe (via Ben from RG Sports ) just to find out that our local performance shop is in lockdown mode.

They are still doing some work but I can't meet with anyone in person. Can only drop off the car, put the keys in the lock box and then pick it up the same way when done.

This would be first M8 Coupe getting lowered in the US and am extremely apprehensive trusting them with the job that way.
They have never worked on a M8 before.

Update

So the plan was to drop the car a bit but have some flexibility on height in case the ride quality suffers and I can dial it back up (wife with spine surgeries).

Covid-19 has made this more complicated plus we were still the dead of winter here in Minneapolis... 6" of snow over Easter

We were finally able to pull the snow tires off this week.

So with the help of Ben r33_RGSport who has been beyond helpful in getting this thing lowered
We need to find a way to carbon copy the guy or get him mobile!

Unlike the 8 series, there are no lowering springs available for the M8, adjustable or not, so the question is what works. limeypride got the 550 H&R springs and it looks great! The coupe apparently has a different rear than the GC.

With the very slow and cumbersome assistance of a local performance shop we have installed the MSS M5 adjustable spring set on the M8.
Added 18mm spacers in front and 11mm spacers in rear. Also bought a set of 5mm spacers in case the rear looks too aggressive but so far I like it as is.
I will install the 5mm spacers next week to take pics and compare both, in case others want to do the same...

Now we need to actually drive the car for a bit so that the suspension can settle properly but the front looks a touch too high but no biggie.
Car is also not quite level on pics. Sorry! Will take better pics in a few days...

Am very happy with the result. Not too low, ride quality is actually a touch better than stock!
We may put in shorter springs in the front once we see how the car looks after driving it a bit.

Curious to hear what you guys think!
