Makes me think on my 4 years of Belgian competition..

Thanks for sharing
Can't hardly get more out of the wind than riding at the back of the train.

Depends from where the wind comes , actually you need to feel it and choose to drive on the left or right side from the wheel in front of you ..
The Belgian competition riders are world famous for it , that's why you can see them in a race all on one line.. but from one side of the road to the other side over the road against the wind ..
And mostly the last ones are in trouble because the road is not large enough , they come in the full wind and it's game over !
That's why I said previous to you ...You should try a amateur race to learn because a lot of strategy is involved .
A driver who don't knows it will lose a lot energy during the race even with a little wind or without wind..
There is a reason why they ride on one side of the road ...

Dammit..I don't know the word in English but here in Belgium we call it => "Waaiervorming tegen de wind"
Here in Belgium we say ...Don't ride with your legs alone , but with your mind as well .
And it's not always the strongest rider who takes the win..because sit out of the wind is actually a kind of art
Every minute in the wind is a minute too much in the wind !

The next video shows a perfect example of "the game against the wind " at 50 sec. runtime..

Edit :Just found it for you in video # 2 => "It's about crosswinds in English" !

I'm an expert at staying out of the wind. I'll ride echelon when ever there is a cross and the people who don't understand get all pissed off at me. Whatevs.

Both the men's and women's races were exciting. Feel so bad for both Abbott and Majka for being caught so close to the finish. Outstanding efforts by both of them.

Hoping all those who crashed mend quickly.

Both races were fantastic and exciting to watch, but also painful to watch. That was an ugly crash in the woman's race.

I was reminded by my past to never hit the front brakes as hard as the back!

Her problem was too much back brake for where she had the bike weighted. Too much of her weight was on the front wheel causing the back brake to lock up sooner than she expected.

When that happens, most people let go of all brakes to regain control. Then they'll hit all brakes hard because what they were slowing down for is now much closer to them. But their weight has again shifted forward and when they hit the front brake hard again, over the front they go. Typically anyway. And that looked to be how she went over.

Anyone hear of her after hospital status? Lots of broken bones from the men's crashes.

Deep concussion (WTF is that?) and 3 fractures of her spine was the initial report. She was OUT for quite a while laying on that curb.

I assume deep is one way to describe a Grade 3 concussion since she lost consciousness. She was out for quite awhile.

It's mind boggling how long this dude holds 700 watts. And a fair amount of that time seated. If you guys have ridden with a power meter, you get it. And yes, MP-B, I suspect vitamins are involved.

I just went back and skimmed my max watts and the longest that i saw i held 700 watts was only 12 seconds. lol

I find it equally as crazy that these tour guys with chicken legs can hold 400 watts for such a long time.
