Exclamation Well. I Guess AUDI was tired of getting smoked by BMW

Apparently the new new RS7 Performance is quickest in its class now. Those Torgue figures are what has given it the edge, finally.
Meanwhile... I'm still actively shopping for my M8 GCC. For me, it's best in it's class inside and out! Especially in the correct color scheme and options.

Enjoy the video... RS7 Performance vs M8 GCC vs AMG GT63

Watched it earlier- the RS7 launches brutally and then holds its own.

I wont lie; my interest is and has been piqued by the 2024 version for a few months.

Change is good.

Agree change is good. I was waiting for the new RS7 back in 2019 to give it a go but best I could get my hands on was the RS5 that was on dealer lots. I didn't care for the Infotainment as too much touch everything so figured same story for the RS7 and passed.

Now in the world of whatever replaces the 8-series is destined for at least iD8 (have learned to love/hate in the wife's LCI 40i) game on for the RS7. In fact I'm going to reach out to the Penske dealer for Audi (same as my local BMW) and ask them to ping me once they get one on the lot.

The other interesting part of the video is the M8C GC interior. The Ivory White/Tartufo is definitely polarizing. One either loves it or hates it and I'm on the latter side of that equation. 👍

I absolutely LOVE that Tartufo & White!
It and Taruma Brown ate my choice for this car!

What was most interesting about that video was the guy who owns the Merc hasn’t realised it’s lost about 200hp

Audi looking good but both the Merc and the BMW looked super sluggish...particularly the merc.

Agreed change is good, but not for that little of a win.

BMW leaves way too much power on the table in its engine/drivetrain-safe, stock form.

I imagine the other two are the same, but if it’s power you want, there’s a lot more power to be had out of the BMW powerplant if the BMW is the preferred platform.

None of those cars are sluggish.

Carlito_UK the Merc was down around 200bhp vs. what it should be putting out, hence why it was dropped like a bad habit.

Does it actually hurt BMW that they’ve made their newer cars so hard to tune (ie unlocking the DME)?

I mean, a lot of people buy their performance cars with the intention to tune them but when you hear that tuning one is such a chore, I wonder if it could give potential buyers pause.

I’m not hearing of difficulties with unlocking the DME’s of the other major German brands

I’m not here to make excuses for BMW and Mercedes but they seem to have both performed significantly worse than normal and as previously measured by Carwow. The M8 being .7 seconds slower in the quarter mile than a previous measurement.. that’s pretty stark. It didn’t seem like any of the vehicles struggled for traction, so that doesn’t appear to be a big factor.

I wonder if the Audi used launch control and the others just brake boosted? It seems it did take them both in the rolling races though but after seeing ridiculously slow quarter mile times.. makes me wonder.

The Carwow guys are probably the worst in the business at properly launching cars. I know they address it in this video, but not having a drag light is just stupid at this point.

The single cheapest easiest performance mod anyone can do with the M8 is the Racechip GTS Black. PERIOD. Someone prove me wrong with actual dyno numbers. I have my dyno charts and invoices to back that up. I’ve had everything including Carbahn stage 2 controller with all their required upgrades, and didn’t stack up to the Racechip.

I had my engine cracked open this winter and nothing amiss with anything. Pictures to prove it. We are just ultra careful with how we treat the engine, which is a massive bill to repair and or rebuild. And who wants their warranty voided? This is obviously why carbahn does the ultra conservative thing and even a warranty is offered which is just piece of mind for those faint of heart. Their stage 2 controller and the required intercooler and low temp rads still doesn’t stack up to just adding the Racechip.

Ben has been telling us this forever and we either listen or not because he sells it, but he sells it for a reason. It’s the most cost effective engine mod you can do for this car without unlocking DMEs or fucking around with a JB4. r33_RGSport

I’ve done it all now. JB4 was just all wrong. There was nothing I could do quickly to get rid of a horrible lag without assistance. I just don’t want to fiddle anymore.

Now my DMEs are unlocked with custom tune and dyno results. I owe you guys an update in track time ramblings

I meant sluggish as in they weren't being used to their full potential. 200hp missing on the merc explains it. I'm not convinced that the gains made by Audi are anything to scream about especially on a 2024 model. I think a real match up would be the RS7, upcoming M5CS and GT63S(E?)

I would love an RS6 Avant as my next car. If it's faster than my B8, great. But I don't have to have the fastest vehicle in it's class.

Yep you can disregard this video for anything other than entertainment value. Both M8 and the AMG are capable of sub 11 sec quarters which would put them comfortably ahead of the Audi. My guess is that the cars provided for this video are compromised in some way. Same thing happened in a race with an M5 competition vs an M5 cs.

Nothing has changed in the pecking order though perhaps Audi has gotten closer to its competitors.

Dang it I was not expecting the rs7 to win in the video. Obviously there is more to it in real life than 1/4 mile in controlled setting

My thoughts from someone who owned 2022 rs7 and switched to 2023 m8 gc

Despite having apr stage 1 with 645 hp and 656 tq on 91 gas. Psychologically rs7 still felt slower. I got 0-60 on draggy of 3.01 if I recall correctly. 3 sec is no joke but felt slow. RS7 is a wonderful car but suspension setup kind of takes fun factor out of it. On long drives rs7 is so chill and comfortable like riding on clouds ….

Sole reason I made the switch to m8 was fun factor. Plus i feel seats on m8 are better for me at least

Overall I still prefer the m8 just purely from fun factor.

I been lazy but shit I gotta get me race chip now for sure for the m8 and 2ndary down pipe

Well I will prove you wrong!!! I ran a 10.39@133mph with ER secondaries, Dinan Inlet, BMC drop in filter, and ....oh crap Racechip Black...Never mind I fully concur!!! with your assessment.
None of the other mods did much in power at least on my draggy
