Custom tires on factory wheels
Both of my F90 M5s and my last M8 used H&R lowering springs and wore custom Michelin PS 4S 295/35/20 rear and 285/35/20 fronts. My current M8 is lowered using KW HAS. I plan to upgrade the Pirellis it came with (they're noisy and they don't look as nice... weird, but true) but mostly, they're too small for my tastes at 285/35/20 rear and 275/35/20 front.
Two questions: 1. Has anyone else added larger tires on stock wheels after lowering with KW HAS? 2. Is anyone running greater than 10mm tread width delta front to rear (e.g. 275 fronts and 295 rear)? Thx. // also posted to F90 M5 forum Last edited by limeypride; 10-03-2021 at 01:55 PM.. |

Here are my thoughts, been doing much research preparing for my M8 to come in. Lots of great people here on the forum have changed things up, and shared some great stuff. I assume you are asking keep stock wheels but change the sidewall and width???
1. Some have 21's and 22 size wheels on and lowered with no issues at all. But seems like most people keep the rolling diameter about the same as stock or very close +-3%. Meaning if you go 21's you go from 35 to 30 or 25 to stay near that spec. So by doing that you won't have any sort of clearance issues. 2. I've asked about this before and seems the consensus is to say close to OEM as possible. My plan and I've seen this done while lowered is to go 285 front and 295 or 305 rear. From what I've read and been told going any larger on the front, lowered is very risky. I might be miss understanding your post it reads as if you are talking side wall and not width or are you talking just width? If you go wider the tire gets taller, so you will want to drop the sidewall a bit from 35 .
