Official! New Camaro to be built and sold in 2009.

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=90

Looks like the muscle cars war is officially on (between this, mustang and challenger).

I say the new Camaro lasts three years tops. May be a bigger failure than the revived Pontiac GTO. GM never learns.

im not very familiar with muscle cars but how do these new muscle cars handle? are they the same old ones that just go fast on a stright line? not trying to compare the muscle cars just curious.

BTW, there's a red magnum SRT in my work with huge wheels and huge brembo brakes. looks hot and mean at the same time IMO.

my dad has a new gto and it handles pretty darn well. i wouldn't say like a bmw but it is so ridiculously fast it makes up for it. now if only they could fix their quality-he's had tons of issues with cheap build quality.

nice, but it'll be funny when it comes time to restyle for next gen. Just look at the VW beetle and how much trouble they're having in redesigning and evolving the retrol look second time around

I'm surprised GM green-lighted Camaro production. The new retro-cued Mustang has not been as big a success as Ford had hoped. If the legendary Mustang can't be a sales winner (not to mention the GTO), how can a lesser muscle car like the Camaro be one?!

And by the time the Camaro hits showrooms, gas will be more expensive and muscle cars will really be on the way out — much like how SUVs and trucks are on the way out right now, while crossovers come in.

Generally, sporty two-doors are a dying breed. Bye-bye RSX, Celica, GTO, etc.

GM needs to pay more attention to the mass market and hit some home runs there first, before fiddling around with a niche two-door. Like DaimlerChrysler has done with the 300 and derivatives (Charger, Magnum). DaimlerChrysler can afford to throw another car on this platform (Challenger) that may not do well or may just do average. It's already made a killing with the others.

The Challenger is going to be awesome. As much as I'm a Mustang fan (I've had a '67 and a '77), the new one still lacks the fluid curves of the 1967, 68, and 69 models. The new concept had nice retro lights; the actual development car has cheap looking plastic headlight units.

The new "retro" Camaro has a hint of Corvette sleekness. It's cool looking, but doesn't give me goosebumps in its attempt to emulate the classic Camaros, because it simply doesn't.

Whenever I drive by a 10-year-old GM car, I see the sagging doors, uneven body parts, uneven gaps, shrinking plastic panels, squeaks and rattles. The new Camaro's only redeeming quality would be the classic small block pushrod V8 and American HP/Torque.

I wonder if Chrysler will come out with the "Retro" Barracuda, the classic one was my all time favorite. Now, where's the new retro 2002 at?

I'd advise to anyone that wants to talk bad about the new Camaro, go take a look at the concept in the flesh first. That car is hott!!! I know I got goose bumps when I saw it.

I saw the Camaro in the flesh at several auto shows this year. Didn't give me goose pimples, like it did for E90-4life. Gave me something else.

1. i dont know from where did u get the info that mustang isnt a sales winner?? it has been successful so far, i couldn't believe that top gear ppl, who hate american cars, actually loved it!!!

2. who says the camaro is lesser muscle car than the mustang??

3. plzzzzz dont compare the CAMARO and other american muscles to RSX and Celica.
