European Delivery
Hi, Im new to the forum and not an e90 owner yet but I do have a question that I hope somebody could answer for me. I am looking and getting an e90 via Euro Delivery sometime early this year. My question is does anybody know how long I would have to wait before I could get an '07 model year car. I've heard you can get the '07 models quicker if you get them via Euro Delivery and I hope that that is the case. Thanks in advance for your help.

You might be able to drive your '07 sooner in Euro, but with the 4-6 week shipping, I doubt you would have yours before the normal dealer allotments.

I'm guessing about Sept. of next year. From what I understand (and may be wrong), the E90 came out halfway through the 2005 model year.

It depends if they go with the traditional Sept. MY then probably the 1st week of Oct the earliest. The like to have the car completed 30-days prior to Munich pick-up.

Re: European Delivery
Wow, I don't know if I can wait that long. I was hoping to have the car for the summer. I plan on keeping it about a year once I get it, which is why I was thinking of waiting for a 2007. Does anyone know if it would make too much of a difference either way as far as resale value, IE if I do a 2006 in May 2006 or do a 2007 in October 2007? Cause if I am only talking $1000 or so when I sell it in a year then I will just go ahead and order a 06 for May. Thanks.

no, it'd be a 2006 in May 2006, or a 2007 in October of 2006.

Re: European Delivery
Thanks StressDoc, thats exactly what I meant. Basically I am wondering if my depreciation would be significantly less if I purchase right at the start of a model year versus mid-way through a model year. I have never owned a BMW before, but my research indicates that they all have very solid resale value and basically, unless I'd save a lot of $$ by waiting till the '07's come out then I'd just assume have mine in May. Thanks.

Just another bit to confuse the issue more... The rumors are, that BMW will be changing the 325330 to 328/335 for the 2007 MY with more HP. Whether or not these new models will come at a premium over the 325/330 and how much that premium would be is anyone guess. It's also anyone guess how that will affect a 2006 MY car's depreciation. If you search a bit I'm sure you'll see some of the threads here about it.

Thanks Ghunger, I saw that there may be a new change coming but that does not concern me as much as the issue of the model year. I am going to be getting a 330i and I think that even with the change it will still be a very marketable car. However, since I have never had a BMW I don't know if it is model year or mileage that seems to make the biggest difference with resale. Since I'm only going to keep it 1 year, I wan't to cut my depreciation as much as possible. Thanks. Also, what type of discounts off of ED MSRP are you guys getting on 330's? Thanks.

Right now a lot of people are getting from $500-$750 over ED invoice.
I'd recommend that you visit bimmerfest.com. It has a whole forum on the whole ED process. Also there's a dealer sponsor there that's doing some great holiday deals if you order by Jan 2. I see that your're in NC. The dealer sponsor is in Atlanta. However keeping a car a year and then selling it is always a bad combo. You take the biggest bath on depre the 1st year.

Please disregard my last post, I found the pricing on BimmerForum.com. Not to keep barraging you with questions, but the price list I saw basically indicated that $500-700 over ED invoice would allow me $2500 off of the ED MSRP. Is that in the neighborhood of what guys here are getting on 330i's when they do ED?

$5-700 over invoice is excellent. Anything between $1k- $1500 is about average.
