335i PROcede vs S2000 uphill

I raced a Honda S2000 on a steep uphill, from about 40-100mph and was only able to pull 2-3 cars on him. He looked stock, but you never know...

The S2000 weights about 2800 lbs. Driver had a female passanger.

The 335 weights about 3600 lbs + me 230 lbs + 50 lbs bag in my trunk.

When we got to a flat ground, he didn't want to race anymore.

I know the steep uphill must have worked against me (since my car is way heavier) but I'm still a little disapointed. I was expecting to rape him.

Your question is kinda dumb. I raced him uphill because thats just the way it happened.

I don't believe in 'dumb questions'.
To me racing up a hill seems pretty dangerous, a lot more so than racing on a smooth/flat road.
To me it seems as though your 'ego' got in the way, or else you could have waited until you got up the hill.

How is it more dangerous? It's slower and you can stop way faster

fyi -- some of those S2000 guys have F/I supercharger (which brings the car up to ~ 300BHP). My previous neighbor had a S/C S2000 and he was active in his local S2000 enthusiasts Forum and club. I'm not saying that this was absolutely the case, but if he was F/I, you would still pull on him in your PROcede 335i, but it would be much closer than if he were stock; my guess is that he was in fact F/I (and you would never know if you just ran with him on the hwy.).

yes it is. I sell BMWs (including a ton of 328i) all day and the car is not as fast as an s2000 trust me my Dad has one. It is also not close like you say. His car is faster than my 330i which is faster than your 328i.

The 328 and the e46 330 are actually VERY close in stats, with actually the 328 maybe having a slight advantage. A 335i, even stock, should have no problem with a stock s2k.

This is all good except for the fact that the S2000 can redline at 9000 so they may have to shift less? I am pretty sure an S2000 is much faster than a 328 though.

I recently raced a Mustang GT from 60-140 and only pulled < 1/2 car length on him so I guess you just never know. I was expecting to rape that pony.

You have to drive the S2000 violently to get it to move at all. I had one for a minute, but it got tiresome very quickly

wow... i would have expected better results.... only 1/2 car length? damn... well, i mean, it was a straight line. if that had ONE damn turn, you would have owned it up.

Is it possible that the S2000 was modded, but had a stock exhaust?

Weird. Are you sure he was stock? The S2000 is one of my favorite cars ever and I would've chosen it if my legs would fit comfortably. I have really good friends who own one though and going stock for stock, I had no problem pulling on them hard. So either you're not running at max potential or he's not stock. Wouldn't going up a hill made your advantage even higher seeing that he's torqueless and you're the opposite?

Yes, but the forces pull the heavier car back harder than the lighter S2k.
My guess was that he wasn't stock. He had a stock exhaust tough.

When we got to a flat ground he didn't want to race anymore.

s2000's tend to be alot faster than people think. i have one.... on the highway....like at speed... 335i's will only pull about 2 cars starting from about 60 mph. then at 100 be about 3 cars. part of it is because the S2000 has a far better gearing platform for highspeed racing... 8250 or 9000 rpm's depending on model. VERY low final drive. etc... like i said... on the hwy 335i's will pull roughly 2-4 cars on me. off the line.... bye bye... i can't even come close or catch up. and the S2000 has a higher top speed, delimit your 335i and that immediately changes. but i've gone 163 in my stock S2000.
