Very nice. Reminds me of how much more I like the look of the F82 vs the G82.

My 2016 535d

Hello all. This is my first post here. Below is my recently acquired 2016 535d, which I am in love with! I'm fairly new to BMW and very new to Diesels, but I like an adventure. This one is in great condition, and was recently service by the local BMW dealer. Looking forward to many great miles with this beauty!

Love Wraiths in certain colors and not so much in others. That scheme is really attractive.

My 6’8 friend sat in the back today and was fine. There’s a ton of room. I’m 5’10 and could easily sit in the back for hours. I agree that RR’s have to be the right spec to not look like an old man’s car. Hate the burled walnut type of look. It is surprisingly difficult to find a really well spec’d RR. This one was heavily loaded with over $100k in options, one owner with 13k miles. Definitely a needle in a haystack find

You went from a 911 GTS to a R R Wraith in a matter of two months
Did your priorities change? Because they are two completely different cars.

I don't like the way modern Rolls' drive, but to each their own. They certainly suit a purpose.

Yes I traded the 992 for the Wraith. After driving it for a few months I decided I preferred my 991.1 GTS (which I still have) for the NA engine and $60k price difference. So I went looking for 458’s and Wraith/Ghosts. Really hard to find the right 458 and this popped up locally with one owner, low mileage, heavily loaded, and in nearly brand new condition.

I’ve been eyeing the Wrairh for a long time but prices during Covid went nuts and I knew they’d drop a lot from the high so I waited. This one was priced extremely well for the mileage and condition. The dealer raised the price by $7k within a few hours of it being posted but agreed to honor the original price if I bought it. I don’t think it would have lasted more than a few days at the price I paid, even the higher price was fair.

About a month ago I was in a parking lot during a major storm and a shopping cart flew into the side of the 992 and dented it right on the fender. Paintless dent repair guys couldn’t fix it, said it would need body work and repaint. So I just decided it made sense to move on and dealer gave me a pretty fair offer for my car. IMO the 992 is a great car but not at the $160-200k price point with so many other options out there at that level.

I wrote a comparison of the 991/992 here: https://rennlist.com/forums/992/1365...omparison.html

I’ve never driven a classic Rolls but I can’t imagine a better car for highway cruising than the Wraith. There’s really nothing like it, I’m shocked by how much I love it. Thought there was a chance I’d find it big dumb and boring, but it’s none of those. Even getting it side by side in my garage with the 991 is way easier than expected, didn’t think I’d be able to open the huge doors with both cars in the garage since our garages are very small in Vegas.

They're good for highway cruising, but that's really it IMO. I much prefer the way Bentleys drive to Rolls'.

If you've already got sports cars, then the Wraith is a great car to compliment those. If I could only have one, I'd buy a Continental GT Speed.

I do a lot of highway cruising so it works out. IMO there is no comparison between the interior of the RR and the previous generation of Continental. The GT Speed is probably a great car for the under $100k price point though.

The new generation Bentleys have amazing interiors and I would love to have one when the prices get under $150k for lower mileage. The new Flying Spur with the right spec looks incredible.

Got to love a good deal on a clean and nice spec pre-owned. It's like a successful hunt.

And yes, the lunacy pricing is tapering. Real estate too...thankfully.
Predicted big tapering on the horizon.

Also drive a 991.2.
The Wraith is what Batman drives on his day off.
Different level.
Dollar for dollar I agree with you.
Fine automobile sir and still in the family.

Okay, it all now makes sense

The 458 is an exotic and the GTS is a Porsche GT car, the Wraith and Ghost are the ultimate luxury vehicles. If I am shopping for a 458 I would not be looking at a RR, and vice versa, that is why I asked if your priorities had changed because they are completely different cars but now I understand that what you really wanted was a RR

Yeah I’ve never had a true luxury car like this so it was definitely on my list of things to try. Never had a mid-engine exotic either, will probably do a 458 next. It’s just so hard finding the right spec/condition/price/location with service records and all. I’ve looked for 2 years and only a handful of cars checked all of the boxes and they’re usually way overpriced. I kind of keep an eye on everything in the market and pull the trigger when the time is right.

Yeah it'd have to be a 2020+ Continental GT, for sure. You can get a W12 coupe for closeish to $150k, but not a Speed (yet).

It's been a long time since I've driven a Wraith. I've more recently driven a '23 Cullinan Black Badge and a '20 Ghost Black Badge.

I actually prefer the look of the Flying Spur over the Continental. Blackline trim with the lit up flying B is awesome. It’s surprising that the Spur seems to sell for a decent premium over the Conti when it’s the other way around for previous generations.

I haven’t driven a Ghost or Cullinan but would imagine it’s pretty similar feeling. A black badge car is definitely on my want list. Burnout Gray with blue or mandarin interior, or a white black badge Dawn with red top is the dream spec. The carbon fiber interiors that Rolls does are just amazing too with the way the weave is done.

The more I drive the Wraith the less I want to drive anything else. Such an awesome and unique car.

what sort of option/spec are you looking for ? make sure you get one with cruise control because apparently thats an option on a 250k+ ferrari. Mine didn't have it and highway driving was a pain with that super touchy throttle.

Change the oil very regularly to prevent rod & main bearing damage! N57s are unfortunately plagued with that issue, however, it's still a great engine.

Really interesting read, the whole 991.1 vs 992 thing. TBH I am not surprised I cannot warm to any turbo charged 911 despite the immense performance, it loses it's soul as a sports car imho.

I am a massive, massive fan of the 997 GTS and sorry I did not bite the bullet and get one in 2019, but I could hear an argument that the 991.1 GTS is the finest sportscar EVER made for road driving. That's a big statement but it has merit.
