New best performance numbers M850i

I know most aren't interested in this but it interest me to see what simple tunes can do on a heavy car. I had no idea going in on this would amount to unbelievable performance numbers compared to extremely high priced super cars. Overly impressed with my first BMW ❤️
2019 M850i with an E30 custom tune. This was a 1800rpm launch.

Fantastic! 1st question being was the M850i still on a 11/2019 or lower iD7 release? Reason being post that it's ECU is also locked so hence the question and the E30 custom tune.

It was definitely locked. Tuner in his years of experience has only had 1 other he himself couldn't bench unlock. An outfit from Germany that they work with was able to get it for him. Ecus did not have to get shipped out. Also with my car the tuner had a heck of a time finding all of the torque limiters. Took an estimated 10 revisions to get the tune right.

Are you implying/suggesting that whoever did your tune can unlock the ECU and tune a any version of the 2019-2023 M850 model years? Or only a 2019, even if it's ECU has been subsequently been locked? And without an ECU pull? That would be quite exciting! If this is the case, would you please share the contact information of your tuner?

So if understanding correctly an outfit in Germany remotely unlocked the ECU vs having to send it to them? If so that's a plus as others have had to ship the ECUs to tuners in Europe.

Sounds like it as the firmware lock should be identical. Now the OP just has to avoid an OTA all together as it will wipe the tune and relock the ECU.

The contact info is Performance Eurowerks in Chicago Illinois. The main guy and tuner name is Alex. 2019s for sure and possibly 20s ?? But 22-23 I know have to be shipped as I did just ask on those years for a fb person.

Yes they did it remotely. The outfit in Germany is called "Big Flash" .

Won't be an issue. We've shut that down. Dealership has been informed so they don't screw with it. 1 warranty job so far and it was driver side window. Was covered.

Thank you and I should add that the tuner made sure to keep it safe. The first 2.5 gears are torque limited to keep it under 700 ft pounds which is still too much because I can't go full Launch due to spinning. On the dragstrip it pulled a1.55 short time. 0-60 2.5sec.
This street run is the best I can do so far leaving at 15-1800rpm.

Beyond the dealer just turn off OTA in the BMW app and no nags, etc. and you're golden.

Oh double down on the potential override in the iD7 privacy settings and turn it off there to! 👍

Tire wise if I ever do summer wheels I'll probably run a wider setup with Nittos but I believe I've fixed some of the traction problems by taking some of the negative camber out. Just haven't had time to check it.
I have a custom tune done on a Dyno. Xhp I'm quite sure would slow me down but I don't know anything bout it or what all it involves. Do you know any M8 or 850 that has it ?

great numbers! my m8 comp runs 10.4@132 with the RaceChips...I am in the suburbs of Chicago...do you know if they will be able to do this on the 2022 models anytime soon? I am NOT comfortable sending my ecu to anyone...lol.

if they are that aggressive with the tuning you gotta wonder what the m8 will run...gotta be low 10's with mid to high 130 trap speeds.

This is superb 😍
What power and torque figures are you getting on the dyno? Also, is this just engine ECU or have you made other changes?
I’ve had mine done (Avon tuning in the UK) and I’m achieving a consistent 2.9s 0-60.
It’s going to Santa Pod in a month so I hope I can achieve similar figures.

Just have to call them. Alex is whom you will deal with . He does the tuning and owns the shop. I think perfect conditions and M8 would hit 9s. I'm sure with tires mine will touch a 10.3 . Right now the 2022 Ecus do have to be sent out unfortunately.

Left at 661 whp and 688 torque. It's been turned up since doing datalogs and sending them. I have catless downpipes also but that's it. Please let me know how it comes out. What timing device are you using?

You’ve done well with your dyno numbers for the M850. They are pretty much matching the best set of numbers I got from 3 runs with racechip on setting 5 on the M8. Can you post your dyno curve? I would like to compare where you’re making all that torque
