Failing S007…

Following up on my S007 bashing… below is a pic of my old driver’s side front, showing cording waayyyyy out on the inner shoulder. Almost at the sidewall. So if you’re running these, I’d keep a really close eye on your edges… they may fail long before the tread wear indicators make you think about replacement.

EDIT: 8156 miles on the tire.

Jesus rw99 that could have been catastrophic if it came apart at motorway speeds!!

I’ll be getting mine off the car as soon as possible - not only does it have that horrible Ackerman thudding at low speeds with them, some of the horror stories of inner shoulder wear (and they’re lots of them) make me think legal action should have been taken against them!

Hello , can you tell me please more about the new tire setup ? You have some problems or error on the car ? I know the x drive is very sensible with change of tire size . Thanks

I’ve got Falken FK510 on mine - absolutely love them. They’re quiet, never slip even in the wet, don’t aquaplane at all and I get 20,000 miles out of them. Best of all, they’re half the price of all the big brands - I’ve been buying them for years now on several different cars. Always brilliant.

I also go one size wider all round to protect the rims. Looks good that way too ☺️

Often overlooked tyres Falkens - the new Fk520 gets good reviews too (assume they’ve replaced the FK510).

So I took delivery of my car in May, and as winter approached, I knew I wouldn't be driving it much on snowy days but wanted something all season that handled well in wet conditions and was reasonably quiet.

I got a set from Vredestein and have been extremely impressed! Talk about a little-known brand but man they handle all seasons really well.

Yes, I’m holding out for the FK520s for my next change - about a month ago they reckoned 2 months, I’m now on about 2mm 😬🤞

There’s some rears on eBay mate - weirdly they’re in my saved list! Think the fronts are readily available.

Is that in the UK? I go one size wider to save the rims, doesn’t affect handling at all and means the wheels never touch kerbs etc unless you really slam them - it works!

Do appreciate the heads up though. And you’re right, the fronts are available… I could always mix I guess.
