Differences Between A 2023 M850i And A 2019-2020?
I recently started another discussion here about the fact that I am seriously considering buying a 2019, possibly a 2020, as dictated by my budget. I can't afford anything newer. A car is excellent condition, and mileage would likely be in the upper teens to low twenty range.
Today, for the first time ever, I finally had the opportunity to drive an M850i, however, it was a 2023. The car was absolutely wonderful. As far as I am aware, the engine, trans/drive train would all be the same as a 2019-2020. The same with the entire chassis, suspension and brakes. And I believe the body, the interior seats and basic design remains the same? Certainly, there are likely to have been some electronic/technology upgrades inside, I would think. Is the 2023 that I drove today, in any important way a significantly different car to drive than a 2019-2020? Your experience, perspective and input is greatly appreciated. |

I think the 2019-2020 models have a more aggressive sound than the newer models (from what I’ve heard from others), but that’s pretty much all due to software changes

I think the infotainment is really it in terms of bullet point upgrades. There are colors that have come and gone and options list has been jimmied here and there.
On the technical side there may be some changes that effect coding and that sort of thing. I'm sniffing the tree myself: I left Porsche for MB to try an S class, but as it turns out it's not really the sort of car for me and the car itself has some issues that hurt the ownership experience. |

I have a 2020 M850i (10/19/2019) build date and wouldn't change it for the 2023s when the lease was up. Considered a 2023 M8C but couldn't justify the uplift when the M850i has all the power I need and is just fun as hell to drive. 👍 |

Also, as far as I am concerned, you made the exact right decision on staying with your M850i. The M8 is just not worth all that additional cost. It also strays even further from any performance gains that could ever be utilized except on the track, and it was never designed for that to start with. What is there that an M850i could ever not possibly be capable of on public roads? Even in outlying areas where you can let loos a bit, its sensational. Thanks again! Almost bought a 2006 XKR with the Ian Callum design as loved the DB7 and he shifted the dime for Jaguar. Problem as although the quality was up the depreciation still was an entire shit show based on a decade plus of quality issues. Once TATA took ownership the quality just went up so hold onto that F-Type R. 👍

Don’t know if already said but 23’s+ did away with the electronically self adjusting grille flaps and went to a matte finish with a little //M logo and M8 side mirrors. Plus they received//M colored stitching on the steering wheel.

Going on a second test drive as soon as a used M850i arrives at a dealership an hour away. It was expected last Friday, or this coming Monday, initially. As I mentioned earlier, I was pretty blown away by my first test drive, but there was one issues I need to look further into.
The footwell was tight for me. My right knee and thigh being pushed to the right by the console as it extended down, and my left leg, knee and thigh pressed fairly tight up against the door. I'm hoping that spending some extended time utilizing all the seat adjustments will lead to a driving position I can live with, as I love the entire car, otherwise. I plan to take a good fifteen minutes working on adjustments in hopes I can make this work. It doesn't help that I am a longtime athlete and weight room guy, and have large thighs, calves and legs, overall and several reviews have noted the tight space there. |

You can tune 19's and some 20's without having to send the ECM's to the EU... Might way in on your pick.... I minor stage one can see around 700hp without really doing any else..
