17 cars illegally seized in Orange County, California

To summarize:
- group of enthusiast go on a drive through the OC probably up towards Santiago canyon
- ironically a mustang gets hit by a cyclist and was recorded by police as the cyclist fault
- weeks later it turns out the cyclist son is a Brea police officer
- then city of orange seize the cars in front of their homes/ work/ and businesses with no reason
- original police report never got filed and the original officer has amnesia
- 100 days later the cars are still impounded which includes a bunch of BMW's, and a smattering of Lamborghini's/ Ferrari's/ and GTR's
- the owners actually catch the detectives "testing acceleration/ handling/ and braking for investigative purposes" at the impound facility in Orange called Archie's Towing.

I'm surprised this hasn't been made aware on our forums

Instead of oppressing the hand that feeds their paycheck maybe the police should do their job and work on clearing out the drug dealers/ gangs/ and homeless people out of Orange County!!!

In the past year homelessness has gotten significantly worse here in the OC. I used to be able to ride my bike out to the beach along the Santa Ana River trail and in the past year that trail is full of encampments. It looks like a post apocalyptic scene. There have been many groups that go down to the river to assist them and they all refuse help. The parks along the river have also been taken over by drug dealers and prostitutes. There's a few neighborhoods with million dollar homes that border these parks that witness this and call the police and they never come. I guess instead the police is busy taking turns driving the exotic cars they seized.

agreed... how does this get any kind of exposure so us auto enthusiast are made aware if it was originally posted in a sub-sub-sub forum on a model specific board. In fact looking at the pictures there are 1 series/ 2 series/ e92 m3's/ and F80M3's... additionally there's a GTR, Ferrari, and Lambo... so it doesn't just belong on the 1 series forum.

Here is a video of some of the drivers who had their cars seized explaining stories to the City of Orange City Council.

Unbelievable what these guys have endured.

It will be interesting to see the outcome.

Deeply disturbing. I live in Orange, CA and have driven the streets where the bike incident took place. Looks like I need to be careful around there and a bit more paranoid of Orange PD.

This is why jury's were invented.

This is also why I avoid cruises like the plague... You don't even have to do anything wrong to end up in a mess of trouble because of entitled law enforcement who assumes everyone with a nice car is a criminal.

So no memory of the incident, but a perfect recollection of every license plate of every vehicle involved? Yea fucking right.

Can you make a google map of where said hookers and drugs are located? You know... for research and whatnot.

On a side note, I like the city of Orange. I had some good sausages there once during a fest.

Seems to be most updated thread on this...

http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/cal...-seized-9.html

So they did release the cars... But the owners still had to pay the storage fees and towing and they still don't know what they are charged with!!!

What an odd story. They needed to "test" the impounded cars? Interested to see what compensation (if any) the owners receive.
