Hey does anyone know how they break down the final price for oil change and filter on this car? Every place I call can’t give me a final price. I want to understand why ~ please help

My dealer says 229$ for the oil change. That includes inspection and top up of any fluids. Not sure why that would be hard for your dealers to give you a price. lol

No No No its the same they use on all the other models as well. It might take a few more quarts but that's about it.

BMW “recommends” every 10,000 miles just so they don’t have to do it every 5k miles lol. So, they’re basically only obbligated to give you a free oil change less than 3 times on your brand new car. I just think it’s better to do it every 5-7k miles. |

For me, $150 every 5-7,000 miles wasn’t an issue. I don’t think these cars or really any performance car should wait 10,000 miles every oil change. Even if it’s stock. |

I'm in the 5K camp as well.
What is everyone’s opinion on changing the oil every 5K, but only doing the filter every 10k? The reason I’m asking is because I have the 3 year free service, but plan on changing the oil—I vacuum the oil from the dipstick tube—myself every 5K. So, is it ok to do the filter every 10K? Edit: Sorry, I just realized I hijacked this thread; I'll start a new one. Last edited by Hornethandler; 05-10-2024 at 12:23 PM.. |

Watch out for their "specials." BMW in Chicago area offered me a $129 special only to charge an additional $100 for a mandatory scope to reset the light.
Would have been happy to pay $229 up front, but this bait and switch tactic will definitely make me not want to use this dealership again. If they do this for something as simple as an oil change, imagine what they do for the more complicated things where the customer is not aware. |

I went to BMW (knowing it was the air bags) and they showed me a $5,000+ invoice with so many different things that didn’t need to be fixed. Like the actual suspension & what not. Thankfully for this forum, I knew it was the air bags because it was a common issue with these cars. Ordered them for $400 on FCP Euro & got them replaced for $300 labor at a nearby shop I know. Car had a chassis warning the first week after changing them and if it sat for long, the car would continue to drop again, but I think it was just adjusting (?) to the new parts. Car sits normal now, doesn’t give that message on the iDrive screen and I “saved” $4,500 (LOL). BMW is an absolute scam and sham. |

No arguing your point here I agree they are above and beyond. Just remember dealers have to follow OEM recommendations and they replace what they are told too. It is always good idea to have a independent shop you trust. However once with my old F150 the cam phasers known to go bad started to fail. Ford quoted a high number as well just like your situation because they replaced more than just the phasers. This not being TSB covered or recall I took to independent shop they did the job well and did exactly what I asked of them. Truck ran great for awhile than had a catastrophic failure, that same shop then said yeah we should have replaced basically everything on the list that Ford gave me. LOL you win some you loose some.

I don’t have experience with Ford’s but outside of that catastrophe, I heard they were very reliable. I guess all cars have a batch where something could go wrong. |
