KW H.A.S. or COILOVER KIT V4 ???

The current dilemma I am facing is for a future mod for the two. Do I want the V4 kit with the optional noselift to have the ability to lower/raise the front end?

And is it worth the additional $6,000 to do so?

For reference;
V4 Kit
(Powered) Front Lowering/Raising: 0.6" to 1.4"
Rear Lowering: 0.6" to 1.4"

HAS
Front Lowering: 0.2" to 0.8"
Rear Lowering: 0.2" to 0.6"

That is great share of information. I've almost always used full kits in the past for my rides for a couple different reasons.

1. easier install swap them all the way out.
2. The lift is worth a lot if you need it.
3. Most stock units kinda suck... Not here in the M cars though.

I'm still on fence if I need to lower, waiting for new wheels to come in to decide.

I posted my thoughts in the other thread you asked about but:

KW HAS is cheaper and plug and play with EDC. It works really well with the stock dampers and has limited excessive compression and rebound on reasonable street quality. To me, who wont track the car, the HAS is more prudent and I also dont keep the car for long.

BTW your KW data (I know you pulled it from their site) is wrong... We measure my drop immediately after un racking the car with max front and rear drops:

25mm front (it will settle a little more)
28mm rear (same)

Now if you are tracking the car or want a drop with perfectly mated dampers and springs, the V4 is the ticket. If you are keeping the car for a long period of time it could be worth it. I had V3's on my M6 and it was a great and enduring ride over undulations but after going thru so many sets of KW HAS (close to 20)... I sleep well at night and my kidneys are fine.

This is with about 40 miles on the car post drop.

Thanks for your insight. I think at the end of the day it comes down to cost really. I don't anticipate tracking the car often. I do plan to keep it for a while (if not forever) and I can always upgrade down the road.

Looks just like mine with the KW HAS kit. Only thing is it is just a tad rougher/bouncer than stock but still liveable for a "sports car "

I picked up my car today with a set of KW V4s freshly installed. Attempted to do this myself, but chickened out. Not something I wanted to mess with.

I must say, very different car with the KW V4s.

For rougher parts of road, no longer feels like the wheel has ‘fallen’ into the rough part of a road with the strut and spring slamming into one another. I know the usual suspects on my local roads by now because I shudder every time I mistakenly hit one.

Track day Saturday and we shall see. Not same track where I shredded my left front, but I’ll hit that track later this fall for more comparisons.

Dr Thrillride. Has the V4 changed the steering feel at all? Is the turn in any different? I have KW HAS and I am very pleased but feel I might be able to get nearer to M5CS levels with V4. Enjoy your car. Cheers

I couldn’t say because I haven’t been on the track yet.

May someone please share the KW part number for the HAS? I can't seem to find it on the website. And are we saying the KW HAS is bouncier?

253200CW I think is the correct part number...

r33_RGSport

As for bouncier, its not as I do think the spring rates are higher than the OEM ones.

Sinister840 has 840. That's wrong part#.
Also, need to know whether it is coupe, convertible, or grancoupe.

Do you know if your shop reused all the old hardware ( bolts)?
