Hello, I was wondering what do you think about the seats compared to the M5 F90 seats? The design it quite different. I find the M5 seats to be more comfortable and adjustable. I currently have M5 F90 and looking into leasing M8 GC. Apparently, there is no option yet to order different seats according to my dealer. I welcome your input and thoughts in advance! Please stay safe and be well!

Second that on the coupe which I believe is even a bit less adjustable than the GC. Still hits all the right spots...
We drove 4 hours when we picked up our car and my wife has back issues (2 spine surgeries). We was completely cool with the ride and the seats after that. loves it There is absolutely no way this would have happened with the Performance seats on our E63s. City traffic OK, travel, no way on the AMG (for her)... |

I agree with LP. The seats are a bit flatter and maybe firmer but they are quite comfortable. One lagniappe is the leather doesn't crease like the M5 F90! I have 2000 miles and the seats look like they did at delivery. I certainly couldn't say that about my F90.

I know the thread is primarily on the M8/M8C seats but thought I'd add for others whom may read the thread that the M850i seats are comfortable as well. I'm 6'6" with lower back issues but so far I've had zero issues in the M850i. The real test will be when I drive it (along with the wife) to San Diego next month as that is roughly 5 hours in the car. With the lumbar settings and side bolsters dialed in now I don't forsee any issue for the drive outside of my wife constantly telling me to turn down the B&W. My strategy will be to disable the gesture controls as she knows the one for turning up/down the volume so I'll be able to control it from the steering wheel.

I also wondered if it was related to the height/depth of the seat cushion area--with the massage mechanism, it may have raised it to a point that the M folks considered too high or in opposition of their goal for a low-slung ride. |

Disappointingly to the wife there is no massage feature in the M850i either. Keeping my mouth shut on that as otherwise when I pointed out the fully loaded M5C at a lower price point when we took a test drive of a M850i she would have voted for the M5C just to get the massage feature.

it lacks the upper tilt function and a few other tilt options on the bottom cushion. Not as adjustable as the 7 series or a 5 series multifunction seat. That was the first thing I noticed and the second was the standard black plastic adjustment buttons when the 7 series has the touch metal buttons. sad it seems they cut corners on a 8 series when it really should just be a 6 series. It does have the carbon core however.

Things like the M8 shifter, though, are just a pure joy to touch and to use--the underlying mechanical feel has inadvertently caused me to use the shift paddles less than I used to (my paddles are upgraded, too, but even so). |

My dealer shared with me today, per BMWNA, that the M5 F90 seats are around 2 inches wider than the current M8 seats and would not fit the M8 due to lack of space and configuration of the car? Interesting

That is a long story with discounting many other options along the way. The salient point that set me on the way to the M850i was back in late 2018 when I had taken the wife's X5 in for service and ran into the CA that I worked with to purchase it. I had asked about M5's in stock to potentially take a test drive and indicated that I was in the market but also mentioned my interest in the Lexus LC500. He told me to check out the upcoming 8-series coupe as it would be a closer competitor.
Needless to say I tracked all the 8-series info which ultimately became the launch of the 2019 M850i's. Between test drives of the Lexus LC500 and a pretty much bare bones 2019 M850i my dealer used for test drives (which they let me take home for a weekend) I was sold on the M850i. When I was ready to pull the trigger in June of 2019 I was told I'd have to wait until August to place a 2020 order. Of course the M8/M8C detail was surfacing so I waited until the pricing/ordering guides were available. Ultimately, for my needs I could not justify the M8C price uplift (made more sense than the M8 by the time you option up the interior leather, etc.). I'll never track the car and with the M850i I was able to option it up to my full requirements and it delivers all the performance I need. Literally every time I drive the car it puts a smile on my face whether it is DILYSI performance, the amazing full leather Fiona Red/Black interior, the stunning Tanzanite Blue exterior or the flat out amazing B&W audio. |

I would have picked tanzanite blue with full blue and white interior; instead of my 2019 sonic speed blue with partial white ivory inside. I started looking in early June 2019 and in late June 2019, my local BMW dealership had the 2019 convertible on the lot. |

I'm going to guess it may be in the regards to seat adjustments or more so the Driver Profile properly setting the driver seat to the defined configuration in the case of having more than one driver profile on the car. Can you expand on the detail as it may be beneficial to other M8 owners if they encounter similar issues.
Update: scratch that as just found you're separate thread on the issues. |
