Agreed, but do not think the audio cutouts will be fixed by 8.5 perse.
I would just wait for a bugfix for 8.0 as this is still pretty recent and fully maintained.

I was updated with ista 4.43.1x and iLevel 23-07-540. Nothing is different with our car contrarily to my x5 50e with has now the infamous 8.5 version of Idrive.

I feel that the attention camera is less sensitive which is a good thing. Beside that, nothing much to write about

See here for a mini list

I really wish bmw would be more consistent with all these idrive changes … it’s almost like they keep wanting to be so innovative that even the latest idrive available is already obsolete as they continue to preview future idrive tech and ui…

I mean it’s a great screen, why not roll out updates for the fleet like Apple does for iPhones! But of course vechile makers are a total mess in this department…

Tesla is the only exception which borrows a lot from how operating systems work - with each update the fleet gains new features and improvements…

I would believe that’s their strategy in keeping folks updating their vehicles with newer ones

Only if the vehicle price tag was as justifiable as an iPhone lol

Their strategy to have an advanced fleet based on idrive uniformity would enrich them through recurring paid updates and feature unlocks… like Tesla only Tesla offers free updates same as Apple.

Car manufacturers are slowly learning but no one will buy a new car because their idrive is one gen behind … hope they realize this because the new screen size is ideal for regular innovation on their current gen dash / idrive.

Just my 2 cents
