Looking forwards to m8 GC!
I haven't sat in a G15 yet but I can confirm my F13 has about the same room in the back as an M2. I expect the G15 to be slightly smaller in the back as the wheelbase is actually less, 2851mm for the F13 vs 2822mm for the G15.

Have you seen the size or weight of 911 compare to 8er?
They don't sell 911 as a 4 seater car. 2 different animals

Why are companies still making soft tops? I feel like it's ruining an otherwise great car. Especially, at $120k+ a retractable hardtop is a necessity.

I am aware of that.

Owner of two E36 verts with wind deflectors since 2006.

Show me one pic of a four seat folding hardtop that isn't ugly as hell. Just look at an E93 or F33 to see how bad it can go.

The only possible exception is the 991, where they have the decency to cover the folding hardtop with cloth, because, you know, it looks better.

Plus you retain storage space when the roof is folded, there's a lot less squeaks and rattles and it just looks like a convertible is supposed to look.

Rolls, Bentley, the S Class convertible all wear soft tops. Why take a plastic accordion to that fight?

A necessity at $120k, eh? Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini, Jag, Audi, and every Mercedes except the SL (which is switching to a softop, too) would disagree with you. For a hardtop convertible at $120k+ there's a couple of Ferrari's and McLaren's, and... that's it.

I am surprised at the manual wind deflector, too. Porsche and Mercedes have electric pop up systems, and even BMW's own outgoing 6-Series had the clever rear window I assumed would carry forward. The new Z and 8 should have had electric deflectors, too.

I think the car looks gorgeous. My only other gripe besides the wind deflector is BMW needs to offer some "wow" factor with the interior -- galvanize the interior buttons and offer some more colorful, contrasting combinations. I'm sure it's well made and the materials are top notch, but visually the S-class convertible just poops all over it.

Does this have more space then the 6er in the rear seats? The outgoing model was just too small back there.

OK this will seem silly ... BUT, at the end of the first video, the usual middle aged white guy they use for these adverts closes the door USING THE TOP OF THE DOOR GLASS and not the handle. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine and whenever a passenger would do this to close the door to my car I'd cringe because it would inevitably leave smudge marks on the top of the glass. I suppose if you can afford a house like that you've got servants who would take care of such things. (And you'd have a Bentley or Aston)

+1

Mercedes S 560 Cabriolet's curb weight is 4795 lbs and priced at $133,000 with 0-60 in 4.5 secs.

The AMG S 65's curb weight is 4938 lbs and priced at $180,000 with 0 - 60 in 3.4 secs

When compared to the two MB models above, the BMW's 850i convertible has the lowest weight and cheapest price with performance that sits just between the two. With design being subjective, I think it can steal some market share.

At 29.5 (in) for rear legroom the new 8 convertible has 1 inch less than the outgoing 650i convertible which has 30.5 (in).
