That's ok, cause a Ford Mustang looks exactly like the coupe and convertible, and much cheaper

This isn’t earth shattering news. The 8-series was DOA.

One of the best looking Bimmers but the price is not for everyone.
I personally love the GC because is more useable for family

So bizarre that they cut models like this. Guess due to poor sales. I would think convert would be pretty popular

If they really wanted to stop production of a vehicle let me suggest the new 4 series coupe.

The 8-series is having a hard time for many reasons, but mainly no one wants coupes, convertibles or sedans anymore, and at the $100k price point priorities and values change significantly and the 8 starts to shine less. The days of the convertible in general seem to be numbered honestly.

I found this article pretty interesting as they asked dealers why they are having a hard time selling and what prospective customers think when they look at the 8er.

Sorry but the 8 Series is dated inside. The AC control is like from the 80's.

As much as I like the exterior, the interior is just too old.

The CEO (who was recently fired) sadly took the brand down with him.

I still lust after a Vantage V12 though, gorgeous sheetmetal and that engine is simply marvelous despite shockingly being two Ford V6's stitched together!
I actually find Aston's new lineup to be very impressive. Their previous gen models became very stale and had pretty mediocre interiors and cabin tech. I think the brand name is too strong to go anywhere, they'll just get bought out.

I think the interior looks more plain than old. Like Savagegeese said in his review of the 8, it's just a homologation of BMW's corporate interior. It doesn't feel much different in quality from a 3-series save for the extended leather and piano black plastic instead of dull grey plastic around the shifter/iDrive area. And if anything the interior design of the 3-series has more going on.

The product overall just looks and feels like it ticks a bunch of boxes. It's not bad, but not particularly memorable to anybody at such an exorbitant price.

For me, it's because the coupe has zero advantage over the M5 or M8 GC. Not faster, GC is just as good looking... you really have to want a coupe...

2022 BMW M3  [10.00]
I think you're seeing the first casualty of BMW slicing the pie to thin.

While on a photo shoot at the Performance Center, I had to move an M850i from one end of the track to the other, and was shocked at how good (and loud!) it was. The M8 is a better car of course, but your getting 85% with the M850 and its performance is more accessible.

My neighbor just picked up an M850 and on cold start you hear that thing from down the block. Once he gets on it, it's louder than even an M5. Add the carbon fiber parts that were once exclusive to M cars but now are not, and it's hard to justify the M8.

You might even see other casualties too. This is a problem they've had for awhile but used to be more clear cut. Cars like the 335is were almost as fast as the M3 but offered such a different driving experience. Can the same be said for today's cars with the same engines?

I've only seen one M8, even in LA. I see the 850s more often.

Unfortunately for BMW, any performance-oriented consumer in this price range will prefer the 911 or something with more brand prestige like an Aston Martin. Additionally, BMW's poor residuals and reliability record make the M8 unattractive proposition overall.
Agree about "brand prestige". This should be one of the signals to BMW that they have diluted their brand, and they are more akin to VW. But that's what happens when you make a vehicle for every possible person on the planet - makes it hard to sell yourself as a high-end luxury brand. Toyota, Nissan and Honda figured that out decades ago and realized they had to create entirely new brands to sell their luxury vehicles. Wonder if/when BMW will do the same.

The new one's aren't terrible, but lack the special feeling of the old cars, driving dynamics especially of the new ones pale in comparison. The reason they were dated is because some of the models pretty much ran for a decade or more, that I will agree with, but once you fired up the engine all would be forgotten. Even the new ones have pretty mediocre interiors still, while the design was updated the quality and fit and finish is still lacking and they are running on Mercedes' two generation old Command system from the W204 era, so they are still dated by modern standards.

I was at the launch of the new Vantage when it came out to dealers and even drove one with my friend who still has his V12 Vantage, and it just doesn't feel special and felt very unfinished, which makes sense as they rushed the car out to production. My impressions pretty much matched that of Jason Cammisa's latest review.

While they could likely be bought out by another company, their issues currently run deeper than finances in my opinion. Hopefully Tobias Moers will return the brand to its former glory.

Jeremy Clarkson said it best, "wonderful, wonderful, wonderful." And in some ways he was right it was an ending of an era.

Also this engine is just music to my ears

Only mater of time before the X8 is cancelled. Don't see how a X8 that will be priced higher than a X7B will sell. Maybe Eastern Europe, Russia and China are the markets for the X8, but is it worth all the R&D costs for a niche product. I highly doubt it.

Agree at the $100k+ mark, for an ultimate status symbol SUV, its gonna have a pretty tough time going against the G-Wagen.
