Really? 2019 just started and it is already design of the year? This magazine has no credibility IMO. I saw the 8 series when it was launched and must say I disagree with the magazine. What they were comparing it to anyway?

I know I have been very critical of BMW lately but that's because they lost their ways. And no I m not saying they have to be building E30 for the rest of their life, stay NA, and put manual transmission into anything that moves. I get progress but I state they lost their way in how and what they deliver. I miss BMW of the 90's when their cars were good. Actually some of the 2000 cars were great but come 2010 and man.... wheels on the bus....

what the flipp are they smoking? compared to S63 this piece of S-- fails hard. S class coupe all the way compared to this failure of a design.

this car shouldn't win anything for the lack of progressiveness and they call it flagship? look at MBUX compared to the black LCD cockpit with opposing dials

The passenger dome is too small / low for the size of the car. Once I saw this I could not unsee it. The design elements are good on the car, I just think the Gran coupe version might have better proportions overall.

aside from the AMG GT and the the S-class the lineup is garbage. the interiors feel cheep and look cheap with the add-on big ipads for odometer and speedometer.

Amen, say it like it is.

I know it was a cab, but in Europe I rode on an E Class taxi and that was one nasty cheap looking interior inside that car. And yes this was the latest model. Reminded me of a Crown Victoria taxi. The previous W212 E Class looked and felt more like a proper luxury car.

I guess for some people, glued in iPads in the dashboard equals high tech and high class bling

Me too. I loved the futuristic looks of the original 1990s 8-Series. Still looks good today. I wish BMW had made an evolution of that specific design.

When I see that old car, I really can't take the new rendition all that seriously. I know intellectually it's a terrific and vastly superior machine to the 90s rendition but the old one really did nail the design elements and appealed to the senses at a very high emotional level. Don't feel that connection with the M850i.
