I have enjoyed the occasional Doug video on some weird cars cuz he does sometimes find some odd details about them. Not sure he knows how to drive though so driver feedback is somewhat lacking.

Didn't see much here about the 8 series to excite me. Same stuff as on my F10 minus g-meter and mood lighting. Gesture didn't seem useful, nor does wake word (I'm fine with steering wheel buttons). Back seat is so useless, and the roofline is clearly for a 2-seater, so this car is a failed 2 seater/coupe. Just like the gran coupe is a failed sedan/saloon, with less headroom for the backseat.

It was a decent review - nothing unique or special, though. I do like how he spends a lot on the ‘every-man’s details’ vs the sh*t ppl don’t utilize much of (high performance attributes, or how it compares to the next supercar, etc).

He fumbled some basics on BMWs that have been around for 10+ years like the buttons having soft touch. This was in the E90s, maybe even the generation prior.

You can just tell he doesn’t understand BMWs when he discuss interior and exterior design, but he’s learning. Unfortunately it’s on the most high end vehicles (8 series!?) - it’s almost disrespect!

Don't like the regular turn signal stalk. BMW caved!

Finally got to sit in one today.

Exterior has grown on me a lot. Stylish car, love the fastback profile and rear.

Interior? Very disappointing. While quality is excellent (as expected), the design is plain jane. One with brown or red interior will look nicer but still 'aint great.

Those wheels are great. The ones in Doug's video and press pics not so much!

I love the wheels too, good wheels can make or break a car in my opinion

My car has a blinky light to remind me that I pushed the lever.

I think we need to keep in mind that the vast majority of new 8 series buyers are going to be older folks (who can afford to drop $115K on a car). And those folks tend to be more conservative when it comes to styling.

This car, like my 750i, is best bought after the lease is over, for 40% of MSRP. You know, for us normal people.

As for Doug, lots of hate expressed here. Don't like him? Don't watch. He's no Jeremy Clarkson, but then neither am I (I'm much better looking) and it's free content so I try not to be too critical. He's entertaining enough, and that's all I really want.

If I want a real, thorough review from an automotive journalist, I don't go to YouTube, I buy a magazine. Call me old fashioned.
