The First-Ever 2019 BMW 8 Series Convertible.

BMW M850i xDrive launch model with 523 hp and 553 lb-ft torque. 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph. Market launch March 2019
M850i xDrive Convertible MSRP $121,400 plus $995 Destination.

Classic insulated fabric soft top and rollover protection system

When lowered, the fabric top is stowed under a sophisticated cover with a surface finish and stitching coordinated with those of the instrument panel and interior door and side panel trim.

The subtle “double-bubble” contour of the cover behind the two rear seats mimics the design incorporated in the BMW 8 Series Convertible’s roofline.

The roof can be raised or lowered in 15 seconds at speeds up to 30 mph.

A standard wind deflector can be positioned behind the front seats.

Optional neck warmers are available.

Standard automatically activated rollover protection system.

The 8 Series Convertible will mostly share its specs with the 8 Series Coupe (see our official thread).

No one sits in the rear when the wind deflector is up.

Agreed, that's why I pair a vert with a X such as my current personal combo, M4 vert/X5M (wife has her own X3).

I think the coupe looks sportier, while this convertible makes the 8 look a little classier. But I would definitely deal with the extra weight and just get the vert.

It looks exactly how I thought it would look. I just can't see ever spending $121k on a 4,700lbs BMW convertible.
