Cornering Lights on 8 Series functional?

Hi!

I have a request for the 8 Series owners. Could you verify that your cornering lights work? They should illuminate with the blinker on, in reverse, or with a sharp steering angle.

The reason I ask is that on the 2019 G05 X5 with laser lights they are non-functional on apparently everyone's car. I currently have a pending issue with BMWNA engineering regarding this for our G05 and I'm trying to gather info. Initial response from dealer is new BMWs no longer have cornering lights. Which is not correct...

It is in the paper manual, the iDrive manual, I can see the LED in the cornering light housing, and they wouldn't have designed the headlight with the cutout if it wasn't going to be functional. The new 3, the X7, the 8, and the refreshed 7 all have the cutout for the cornering light.

Thanks!

It should be, mine M5 is working fine and I am in US
I needed to decode the anti dazzle light because US hasn't approved it yet

Now it's so much more enjoyable to drive because it's a awesome feature!!!

Yep, they definitely should be working on the X5s! Not really sure how BMW missed this one...hopefully will get some good news from BMWNA soon that it is just a software fix since the hardware is there. Hopefully some 8 series owners will chime in a pic or video of their cornering lights working.

Coding is rather limited to non-existent on the G05 X5 still. Hopefully people will figure it out soon so we can unlock stuff like that anti-dazzle feature! Would love to have that with out laser lights.

I haven't yet had my 850ix coded (remote access problems with my coder) and I will check out the cornering-light situation for you this evening.

Thank you! That would be great!

Based on the 7 series I tested in the showroom, the cornering lights should come on with the blinker, in reverse, or with a hard wheel turn. All can be done while parked. Lights must be in the "Auto" position and it needs to be dark enough for them to be on.

Thanks again!

Aye. They've worked on my previous and coded 535d and 440ix. Just haven't noticed if they were working on the not coded 850. Will advise...

Scott, not sure if this is good news or bad news for you, but...yes...the cornering lights work on my M850ix.

For absolute clarity (so to speak), my headlights always are in the auto setting and the auto brights always are activated, but the car has not (yet) been coded to restore the glare-free capability.

That said, the cornering lights work under all the proper circumstances.

I hope this helps.

This is actually great news! Thank you! I'll pass this along to the dealer as further proof they should be working on our X5. Hopefully BMWNA gets their sh*t together and fixes everyone's X5!!

Did you get this sorted? One thing to note is that the cornering lights do not come on if you do a soft touch turn signal (3 or 5 blinks). They will come on if you do push the turn signal stalk past the detent (the turn signal turns on indefinitely).
