8er Reverse Assistant
Anyone knows why the NA version does not list this function? Is this something that can be activated through coding?
Thx

It exists on my M850, which was purchased last month in North Florida and equipped with the “Driving Assistance Plus/Active Driving Assistant Pro” package. That precise package is no longer available on the configurator, but I believe its components can be duplicated with other packages. FWIW, the reverse assistant is pretty cool, though I keep forgetting to try it. That said, one has to be vigilant when using it. It once came close to smacking a nearby parked car.

Did yours explicitly list this function? Perhaps they have buried it and needs to be activated through coding. What was this option package's cost then? Now it is $1700. Thx a lot.

Hi. The Driving Assistance Plus/Active Driving Assistant Pro package also was $1,700. It doesn't seem to have some of the components of the current package - for instance, I certainly don't have some sort of "emergency lever" - but I never could tell from the advanced descriptions precisely what it did have. (This is not unusual for a BMW package, even when they don't change the name of it every few months.)
Best I can tell, there never was a reference - within my package or in the list of the standard features - to the Back-up Assistant, which is what it technically is called on my car. Coding definitely was not involved. I have a good coder ("Octopump"), but he hasn't yet worked on my car, and I'm sure that the dealership didn't engage in something like that. May I ask why you are particularly interested in the Back-up Assistant? Also, are you configuring/shopping for/ordering an M850? If so, in what configuration and is there anything else I can help you with? After three weeks, I almost have figured out mine. Last edited by redhot47fla; 01-06-2019 at 02:26 PM.. |

Yes I am in the process of finalizing my configuration. I plan on ED in March or so. Really not much of options to select other than driver assistance, comfort seating, carbon roof and glass controls. I was curious as when I saw the demo video, kind of intrigued even though I would be not trusting the car not to hit anything!! Do you see any other options that makes sense? Thx a lot.

Nope. Looks like you have all the cool, sensible options. If I had ordered, I definitely would have included the glass controls. Good move there. What color combo?

So...you’re the shy, retiring type.
Seriously, nice combo, go for it! Looking forward to chatting with you about the car after you get it. I’ve had a few electronic gremlins that needed extermination, but none that were serious - and I’m loving the car. |
