Is this a decent deal? Anyone know the history of this car?

Shopping for a f92 recently and came across this:
https://www.sewell.com/VehicleDetail...-TX/5724290250

What I like about it:
In warranty for another 2 years including CPO
Low miles - just below 10k
Cheap
BW sound system which is the option that I care about the most besides full leather

Things I don’t like that are not easy to fix:
Not a competition model
Not a fan of red, would almost immediately require a wrap
No driving assistance professional

If anyone knows anything about the history of this car please lmk.
I’ll leave it up to you guys. should I pull the trigger?

Thats a super low mile lease return that the dealer bought from BMW- probably at a dealer reduced value. Its hard to gauge wholesale on this car because all of the auction sales for a 2020 non comp are with much heavier miles.

The color is definitely a hit (negative) but the inservice date was in Dec of 2020 so the OEM warranty is still intact plus the CPO wrapped on. I think 75k asking is heavy due to color mainly. Ill bet the dealer got a smoking BMWFS offer to keep it on their lot vs FS taking it to the auction as a lease return. They have had the car since November so they have room to move it.

I think you hit them hard in the 60's and then go from there but dont go past 68k IMHO.

FYI I ran an Autocheck on the car which is a better reporting of the car history than Carfax--- its a super clean no issue car from the report.

Appreciate that Vic55!

They had the car originally listed at 88k in November of last year. They have came down to 75k over the course of almost 4 and half month now. At 75k, it is the lowest priced and miledge, 2020 CPO car with 2 years of warranty remaining.

Being 1000 miles away from the car, it is hard for me understand why exactly the previous potential buyers turned away.

I have taken your advice and shot them an offer in the high 60s. I was hoping they would counter my offer in the low 70s. But They came back at me firm at 75k.

Deciding if I should move forward at 75.

I will take your advice, as it being more of a unnecessary purchase, which certainly helps

Play the long game….mine was at an overpriced £61k, I offered £50k and they told me to take a hike…..six weeks later i5 was down to (I think £54k ish) they got in touch with me and we agreed on £50500. Which was fair money - I subsequently discovered they paid £48k through a bidding site. It’s a lot of money for a dealer to have tied up in a depreciating by the day asset.

If it doesn’t work out there will always be another car on the market….

Yeah, being patient has paid off for me several times over the years. I'd also say it led to one that got away a few times.

You have to be willing to let a few fish swim to get the best deal. For me, it's a race against buck fever.

+1 on the B&W plus the full leather as both are worth every penny.

Agreed as there is no source available to after market I'm aware of. The plus though is it does have the full base driving assistance package (ZDA) as the early 2020s were plagued with a watered down ZDX package (PDA only, rearview camera only and no 3D view). The 3D view is a must as an 8-series is a bitch to park!

As an update, impatience have gotten the better of me. I have a PPI scheduled for tomorrow and purchase will go through based on the outcome.

Time to decide on a wrap color! Thinking Frozen Grey, Frozen Silver or Matt black.

I appreciate this post, you just went for it and hopefully its done.

Post pics even of the Motegi ... its an ok color and probably just a bit polarizing on an M8.

I think it’s the color….its a really boring and unwanted color to most. I’ve never been a fan of that orange…

I actually found another f92 comp. this one with all the options including CCB. With similar miles in Brands Hatch Grey. For 10k more OTD. They are having the car detailed and I will send someone for another PPI.

The asking is 82. 2 owners and factory warranty has expired. I got a quote for Fidelity, which comes to about 3k for 3 year bumper to bumper.

I’m also tempted by a new MY24 optioned out 6mt g80. 90k msrp but somehow no full merino.. can’t find any to test drive but supposedly it’s more refined and better built than e92 and f82 which I both had.

I’m not quite on your level but I too suffer from an issue of going though too many cars too quickly. 13 cars in 2 years..

Fk8 type r
Brz ts
Gr86
Zl1 1le 10AT
Zl1 1le 6mt
718 spyder
Ct4v black wing
M2 LCI
M2C
Miata rf
Lc500
M850

And a x5 as daily, perhaps we could start a 12 step program
