So is this basically a coupe version of the M5 now? Basically the same drivetrain or is it more different than that? Fundamentally closer to the 5 series or closer to the 7?

"High-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology produces north of 440 kW/600 hp"

Hopefully it's 640hp or more, so they can one up the 639hp Mercedes AMG GT4 Edition 1. That's the car the M8 Gran Coupe needs to beat.

Sedan derived high performance coupe vs properly built from ground up sports car in its hardcore form? It'd be a great achievement even for M8 to match a base AMG GT.

Funny still there're people thinking BMW competes at that level LOL

I was expecting more like 650hp given the m850 output

So $40k more than M5 with similar performance?

40k more than M5 = epic fail. It cant be more than 15k if they want to sell it and Ill take a 911 GTS over this at that price

Euro M850i is listed at €125,000, and price delta between M550i and M5 is almost €30,000 if that may give any clue as to the actual M premium. Which would logically set the M8 somewhere around €155,000... The latest info from the German press (see related thread) though suggests base M8 power towards 630ps vs the M5's 600, so price might even be a little bit higher, meaning possibly upwards of €30,000 above M5.

Two completely different goals.

One is a long drive cruiser.
One is a true sports car.

Hint: Well, you don't get a hint if you cannot figure it out.
