Compared to what Audi, merc and even Lexus are doing with interiors these days, that already looks 2 generations old

Bmw need to bin that steering wheel they're putting on everything now, a Kia has a more premium looking wheel

Nothing exciting or creative about that interior. Considering this is an 8 series I would have expected BMW to take some risk. What is up with that steering wheel????!

They basically just copied the layout from my 2012 Audi S4. . . Lol. This is the only car I've EVER driven that has so many buttons I haven't yet memorized their locations and I still have to look down to do anything other than really basic wheel based scrolling etc.

Audi dash has always been "criminal" to me. M850 has too many similar buttons plus START ENGINE. Old position is much better.

What the design team said about the future interiors including the 8er's is that they basically want to concentrate all buttons and commands into a few clusters / islands (on dashboard, center console, door panels...), whereby there are no more isolated buttons scattered around in the middle of nowhere, which allows for an overall cleaner / purer cabin. Hence why the engine start button is now grouped together with the other commands on the center console, or why the seat setting buttons are now blended together with the door handle / speaker / trim piece as only one visible metallic unit.

Couldn't agree more, it does have a certain "cold" feeling to it unlike the MB interior.

Yeah, Audi S4 have 14 buttons, incl. handbrake and start-up, and M3 have 13. A quite big difference.
Interior is nice but nothing special. The climate panel is modern but rest of the cabin is bland.

I think it looks great. It reminds me a lot of the Volvo XC70 dash with the aluminum outer edges and the slope of the center console:

I suspect many of the haters will appreciate it more once it is seen in other colors with various wood grain trims. That is, unless you think a tv screen makes the best car interior.

I personally like the move towards more physical buttons. The way they are lined up on this 8er almost makes it look like an airplane or race car cockpit. Considering this is a road car that was designed after the M8 GTE race car that came before it, this is a pretty sweet touch IMO. I also just like the functionality, convenience, and safety of using buttons instead of digging through touch screen menus.

A BMW interior resembling a Volvo interior is absolutely not a compliment.

Lol.

Seems like an awful lot of buttons on the vent panel, gear area, steering wheel, lighting, etc. I do like the less is more philosophy of Tesla any day.

Ghastly interior. Materials are a step above the current 6 series but the design is three steps behind.
