Remote start

Remote start used to work on the old connected app. Since they changed the app I can't get it to work. Anyone else having this issue?

I noticed that remote start defaulted to disabled after a sw update at the dealer. Make sure it's enabled in the climate settings.

Yes, a software update either dealer installed or OTA will set remote start to disabled. If you've verified enabled the only other thing I can think of is the privacy settings. Haven't had them change via dealer or OTA updates but you might want to check. Given the app can communicate with the car it's likely a hail Mary but worth checking just in case.

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the app? That has solved a few gremlins for me in the past but granted nothing to do with remote start.

What do you mean regarding privacy settings?

Newbie here…

I bought an M850i last year, remote start doesn’t work. I asked the dealer to enable it, they say they can’t. Searched everywhere I know (which is probably limited admittedly) and can’t find anything.
I have BimmerCode but can’t find anything in there relating to it.
Any suggestions gratefully received - I guess it might help the original poster here too?

Make sure that after checking the box "Starting Engine For Climate Control"
That you agree to the State Laws Disclaimer by selecting OK. Pretty sure that screen pops up and kind of puts it in your face, but just incase - without selecting "OK" it wont activate.

Unfortunately remote start is blocked here in Europe.

For it to work you need option code 1CR on your vehicle order and the DME will require an FSC code.

If you are in the US, it should be available to purchase from the Connected Drive store.

It will require more coding than what can be done in BimmerCode.

You will need Esys.

I noticed it stopped working from my key fob, but I haven't been motivated to fully investigate it yet.

So did mine right after the update. I guess BMW doesn't trust us to use this function with our agreeing to use it several times thru ownership... easily re-set thru Climate control screen though.

I dug through the menus a little, but have to try and figure out where it is in there again.

I’m having exactly the same issue. I also have BimmerCode. Is it not possible to do this in Expert mode?

Can you explain what DME and FSC are?

As far as I know it will take Esys to do the coding at least based on this thread plus older similar ones. As stated it's a regional controlled coding a ND even with it enabled by default here in the US one still has to authorize it in the climate control settings and get some legal ease statement to accept it is legal in my area. Have always considered that there may be some states in the US in which it's technically not allowed due to specific motor vehicle statutes.

Back to the coding it is somewhat the reverse of anti-dazzle headlights. Allowed in Europe but coded out in NA. To code it back in Esys is required as BimmerCode can't do it as basically a consumer app that supports what I'll call low level coding vs high level. For the high level Esys is the only solution I'm aware of.
