I haven't posted this on the X3M group yet since it hasn't been delivered but when it arrives and installed I will. This is my wheel and design for the X3M basically flipping the M performance design and using perforated leather and then a red stripe instead of blue. Also using the M5/8 alcantara in the center instead of just the plastic. Oh and added the flat bottom as well! Should be here next week.

^ Very nice. I don't understand why D shaped/perforated wheels are not standard on the M8/M850...

Thanks. After years of owning them I know what works and what I like. Sadly BMW has not figured that out while MB and Audi and Porsche have. Not even going to talk about supercars...

BTW I am having a second one made just bare wheel from another vendor. If it works out it may be a great option for you guys who want to spend a lot less. Like $800-1000 for the bare wheel and then just swap your parts from the stock wheel. Also ordered the Akrapovic exhaust as well. Goong to make the X3M more my modded car vs. mostly keeping the M8 luxury and GT minded.

The lack of D shaped/perforated wheels is just more cost cutting, just like no self dimming psngr side mirror, this is inexcusable on ~$120k+ vehicles.

Still can't get over the passenger side mirror not dimming. I hadn't noticed it until you pointed it out and of course now when driving at night look over and ask myself WTF? as both driver and side mirror dimming was standard on my outgoing Lexus. My son has the Lexus out in San Diego and loves it but of course is looking forward to when he comes for a visit (or the wife and I road trip it to him) to see the M850i.

With uber bright headlights these days, the lack of this is more of a safety feature loss vs a pure convenience as it was once envisioned. The fact the BMW bean counters thought we'd be clueless enough to miss this for very long makes me wonder what they really think of us/their customer base for these? wtf

Agreed on the more of a safety feature in today's landscape vs when I bought the Lexus and Xenon headlights were barely making inroads into to the market. In fact I almost didn't pay for the Xenon upgrade in the Lexus as didn't have them in the prior car.

So here is the final product that is being shipped today. They made a custom CF top piece to match the finer CF trim of the BMW M Performance parts (smaller weave than the CF on the dash). Completely custom. Enjoy. The X3/X4 forum has not seen it yet!

Nothing like a craftsman that produces handmade items near perfection.

Thank you my friend I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Honestly it should be an option it fits and works so well. Sporty and clean and very OEM although someone on another forum commented it was out of place on a two ton SUV. Same person who probably doesn't own one or have driven one.

As the kids say these days "haters hate", and likely with no skin in the game. To your point on the commenter stating it is out of place on a two ton SUV. However, it has been well proven the X3M is an absolute monster so those on the outside will never understand the performance drive behind the wheel.

I get a similar sentiment from my friends that do not understand my #1 vice in horology with the same eye for detail and passion you have for your vehicles. Ironically, I finally made my point to some of them on February 29th aka leap day. They are are all digital or smart watch consumers but when faced with the fact that my IWC Portugieser Perpetual Calendar (out of the safe for the month of February just to experience the magic) is an absolute feat in micro mechanical engineering as it knows all the days within a month in perpetuity (along with full lunar tracking).

Of course their $200 Apple watches are a bargain vs a 530i cost wise for the IWC. For me the marvel of engineering is worth every penny even if the outside world (aka haters hate) do not understand the passion behind the personal choice made. Enjoy the drive in the X3M every time you are behind that custom steering wheel. Everyone else may not understand it but that is their loss.
