Nissan 370Z tested

Quote:
First Test: 2009 Nissan 370Z
Putting the Sting Back in the Z -- 0 to 60 In 4.7 sec. and the Quarter Mile in 13.3 sec. at 105.7 MPH
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/coupes...test/index.html
Quote:
There's so much tire grip that the engine almost bogs at the starting line, yet 60 mph comes up in just 5.1 seconds (4.9 seconds with 1 foot of rollout like on a drag strip). The new Z-car is no featherweight, as this test car's 3,359 pounds prove, but it does serious business, as the quarter-mile comes up in 13.4 seconds at 104.8 mph. It also comes to a stop from 60 mph in only 101 feet.

Edmunds normally get slower times than everybody else. I can see this being a 12sec car without much difficulty.

That was me that posted that... I am trading in my 08 STI for one potentially. I am waiting until the January so the winter will almost be over when I have to take delivery

As for the Z, thats going to be an upper 30's car loaded.

the Nismo version of this car is going to be siiiiiiick

I have to admit, this car is really growing on me. Good thing Z's depreciate pretty quickly, so I can snatch one up maybe 2 or 3 years down the line.

The price is comparable. IMHO, the 135 is more refined.

The Z is starting at just under $30k. It's pretty impressive performance for the money. The skidpad and braking numbers are outstanding for a car in that price range.

This Z hasnt been growing on me at all... Idk I really dislike what they did with the body... although my best friends 350Z is quite a beast I dont like this 370Z..
and yes the base price for the 370Z is $29,930:
the official 370Z Site:
http://www.nissanusa.com/370z/?intcm...mepage.Home.P2

Does that mean theyre doing away with the 350Z since its base price is $28,510?

Wow, glad to see the new Z car lives up to the hype. Very close numbers to the 135.

Yup, definitely! The 370z is the replacement for the 350z, it would not make sense to keep both models.

I wish it would have come out before I bought my 135i.

But yet another first year car...but with this one I am going to test drive it alot, so the the risk of disappointment will be greatly reduced compared with my experience with the 135.

Here's hoping for a real sports car and not another over-teched, isolated GT car.

I'll definitely be testing the 370Z when I start looking next year. The lack of a back seat is a drawback for me though. Still, E46 M3 acceleration, higher grip (not sure if that translates to better handling feel in this case), and lower price. It will be a great car.

Thats the trend for new cars:

more weight
more power
more safety features

More, more, more and it seems to be paying off, I went to go see the new 370 at an Edmunds Inside line even, and I must say it does grow on you. Base price of around 29K is very tempting also.

Thats no fun, the 350Z I think was better, but i gotta say, the leather in the Z's is verrrry poor... idk how many Z's I drove in Valet and the the ones with leather were worn out real bad and lookd bad, but the car itself was remarkable... that's the 350Z.. to each there own.. but I truly dislike the new body..

As much as Ive been a die hard japanese car fan I dont know if I would be able to own one. Sure theyre good car but my ricer side would surface up slapping HKS,JIC,Greddy,AEM stuff on the car. Next year will be good for cars...it will be extra motivation for me to pay off the 1 series quicker...Camaro and the Z..
BForbes any news on an s2000 replacement?

Rumors say it will surface the end of next year!! :-( Freakin Honda. A little piece of my Honda spirit dies when I read stuff like this. Honda does not enter the sports car arena often. When they do, they absolutely TEAR IT UP. The s2k put a beating on the Zconv, Z4, Boxter, and TT back in the day. I've been waiting for too damn long.

I think the 370z is a great car and a huge improvement from the 350z. I feel as though Nissan were lagging behind the other Jap cars - EVO and STI for the last generation of sports models but this time round the Zed is right on the money. The 350z was nice but overall it seemed to not have enough punch as other carmakers at the time. It was all show and little go. The 370z has a distinct look with a purpose. Acceleration and all round performance numbers are impressive and it seems like you get the total package - a bit like the 135i.

I've never had the opportunity to own a ricer car and sometimes I wonder if I missed out. I'll definately be taking the 370z for a test drive when it comes out. If you only have 30k (US) or 65k (AU) and want something fast with looks it's hard to go past it. If money isn't an issue then it's hard not to go past the new Z4 or even the new SLK.

Meh, the 370z looks ugly when looking at that rear quarter area above the rear wheels. There is just too much of a flare. The 350z still looks really good IMO in orange or blue.
