Not just M850i, and it doesn’t seem like that many cars are affected, ~901 total.

Quote:
According to the Germans, 901 cars could be affected, with an estimated defect rate of 12 percent. These cars include the 2021 M3, M3 Competition, M4 and M4 Competition as well as the M8, M850i xDrive, 840i xDrive and 840i, the 740 Li, 740 Li xDrive, 750 Li xDrive, M760 Li xDrive and 745 Le xDrive on the non-SUV side of things. SUVs haven’t been left out though. The X5 M, as well as the X5 M50i, X5 xDrive50i, X5 xDrive 40i, X5 sDrive40i and X5 xDrive45e, X6 M, X6 M50i, X6 xDrive50i, X6 xDrive40i and X6 sDrive40i, X7 M50i, X7 xDrive50i and X7 Xdrive40i are also on the list.

A voluntary recall on brakes, sounds almost reckless.... brakes and steering are arguably the most important pieces in avoiding an accident.

We are sorry we didnt do a good job welding sir.

As Vic said that is scary stuff. Seems like they are trying to downplay it.
I'd want to know ASAP if there was ANYTHING questionable about the brakes on any car, never mind high performance one!

Thankfully it doesn't apply to my Convertible as my build date was 01/20
(FYI for anyone who doesn't know you can check the VIN sticker in your door jamb for your build date)

So is this just for US cars? I would imagine the fault could apply to cars globally? Haven't heard anything here in the UK.

Ugh. Prod dates match for both my x6m and m8. Maybe I'll call Bmw.

You could check here too. My build date was in the range, but it doesn’t show up on the NHTSA site.

I checked through my trusted SA in Germany and there is nothing open for my (non-US) M850i G15. If there is a recall in the US it does not automatically mean that EU, UK or any other Regions' models are affected too. However double checking is always a good idea.

There's nothing on the Canadian site but could this be what's causing grooves inside my wheels?

I belive my 2021 X5M is within the production dates. Amazing that the all-new M4/M4 is affected.
