If you were to receive a noise complaint, what would it be for?
Hypothetically, if you received a noise complaint this week at home from a neighbor, what would it be for? Loud music? Trips to Pound Town? Tuning the M5 Competition at 10pm? Letting that precious home theater flex it's decibels?
Last night I had a handful of people over for the UFC fight and it overflowed into the backyard. The next-door neighbor kindly turned in porch lights on as a reminder. It was 11pm. (great win by Dustin, by the way!) For those with acres of space...just pretend someone can hear you!

Harboring a barking OCD psycho dog, who keeps letting himself out of the house at all hours of the night to bark at the deer walking around our yard.....

I got a complaint from my neighbors once to the association about me playing music too loud-- On a Friday at 7pm...
Lo and behold, they had a few straight raves the middle of weeknights until 3 AM... you have no idea the type of revenge i got with this one lol... the association literally can't say anything to me anymore. |

Cold Start on my M6 at 5:30 in the morning. Tubi Rumore Exhaust and X-Pipe. It's usually good for 2 or 3 car alarms going off. Yes. I'm that neighbor.

Nothing legendary... I just made it known that it appears the rules are very selectively enforced... and if this happens again, my landlord will immediately be notified and I am out of my condo within days as I have a month to month... conveniently enough... the landlord is also part owner / developer of the building and has a massive influence on the association... lol... please remember, the rental market around here is now shattered and losing a tenant to them is an immediate loss of money for at least a few months.

I live in a marginal neighborhood so nobody complains about anything. Like, a couple of weeks ago at 10 am some rando let off four quick gun shots down the street. My neighbor and I stepped out on the balcony and looked around but didn’t see any blood, so went back inside.

I wouldn't because I don't make noise. I would rather a neighbor do or not do just about anything than to be noisy... Noisy neighbors are likely just bad neighbors in general. A bit of noise during reasonable hours and not often, fine. Party gets loud for one hour on a Friday night? Fine. Any instances that are drawn out or recurring, though--not fine.
Cars, I won't complain about. 5:30 is early, though!

Not anymore, but back at the turn of this century I was the guy with a loud as fuck car. I had a 1995 Saleen with a Supercharged 408ci Stroker, long tube headers, and 3" straight pipes back to a Borla muffler. It would shake my townhouse on start up. Kids down the block would get pissed because I used to go out early on the weekends. I got tons of complaints, but I didn't give a fuck.
Nowadays, I probably would have done something to make it a little more quiet.

Air compressor kicking on and the lovely sound of a bit enlarging a metal hole. As my side entry garage aims right at my neighbor's living room, I have to imagine it gets pretty loud.

If we decided to get rid of it down the road, I’d just put it at the curb for trash / scavengers. I don’t foresee ever needing to disassemble it.

I never get reported for noise complaints by my neighbors because they think I’m a psycho and are worried about retaliation
