It's not listed on the build page for the M8 on BMWUSA.

My M8GC build has gone from week 36 -> 37 -> 43 -> no build date scheduled due to B&W. Pretty frustrating, and I would have canceled already if I wasn't getting a substantial discount on the order.

Looks like the wireless charging has been removed too. Shows up as a credit line when you do a new build on the site.

For what it's worth it seems like inventory in general has a lot more "arriving soon" when you search around by different parts of the US.

I'd monitor your build. BMW just stripped it from mine and said nothing. I was in "Scheduled for production" and noticed the image on the website of my X5 MC had it's wheels changed from 818m to 809m. Then I realized B&W was also missing. Had to get my order pushed back to next year since there is a restriction.

So far so good, but waiting for production start.

This is just part of the craziness AKA shadiness going on with BMW. Cutting and removing options, not telling the buyer, and basically telling you to F off and like it or they will sell to someone else who is so desperate that the other guy will pay full MSRP for a car missing stuff.

They've looked horrible the last 6 months in terms of reputation.....just a bad look for them.

From what I know, it's likely your car will lose it. There's a global restriction and basically any car that hasn't already been produced sounds like it's getting removed. Make sure it shows on the website and check it regularly if you're not ok getting the car without it.

I agree it's totally screwed up. I probably would've had to lose my car and start over cause I wouldn't be ok taking the wrong order. Wheels are one thing, but B&W can't be retrofitted. Could always swap the wheels. Ive already been waiting since March and my order was sent to the factory in late July. I was originally supposed to be a September build and then the factory shuffled me around and ultimately f*cked me because now my options are unavailable.

Oddly enough my 2nd 2020 M850i order arrived with the wrong wheels which puzzled both my CA and I as the order included the right wheels, i.e., that was not a change from the 1st order I did not accept to the 2nd order. One of the managers at the dealership whom my CA got involved basically stated that when BMW runs out of specific parts, e.g., wheels they will often substitute in order to complete the build. Thankfully my 1st order was still on their lot so they just swapped the wheels from it to my 2nd order.

However, if B&W parts were unavailable and they just switched to H&K then I'd have once again told the dealer they are now the proud owners of two failed M850i builds. No way in hell I'd accept an 8-series without the B&W audio.

Update: Still show's at status 112 and all options. Fingers crossed it goes into production with all options.

FWIW, we just collected my wife's '22 X5 M50i. We were unable to get B&W and wireless charging... but she didn't care. I drove it back from NY and I have this to say about the Harman Kardon sound system: it's not horrible. In the X5 at least, it offered decent bass on the low end but if you crank it too high, it'll blister and reverberate quickly. It did very well with high quality music sources (like XM... I'm kidding) but not so much with the poorer-quality sources (like XM... this time I'm not kidding) whereas the B&W will make something reasonable out of them.

Just stray thoughts having spent a 1,000 miles with the HK...

I agree with you the HK is overall a good system. My wife has it in her X3 M40i and we enjoy it. For me on a Convertible M8 the B&W will just finish off the interior the way I want it.

Love the look of the B&W and definitely adds to the interior just wasn't a justifiable expense (to me) for the amount of butt in seat time, which I won't have that much of. Am looking into grabbing the B&W components (trim and light up door speakers). Seen a few available from wrecked 8ers on ebay, and looks to be plug n play. Hoping it works but we'll see.

Yeah, I understand what you are saying, I had a MSO spec'd 720 and maybe put 3800 miles on it, but for me it was worth it just for the little bit of time I did spend in it. lol

Reading around on other forums it seems that the B&W requires some modification to the interior. Like cutting to make the opening etc so that is a no go for me. I'll do mechanical and electrical all day but won't touch upholstery.

Alright called them, production is to start week 46 (Nov 15th). I asked about my options the guy I was talking to said all options are schedule on my build. He also said that during paint mine will sit for up to 3-4 weeks at that stage, since it will be pulled off and done at a different location.

I did ask him, about how I have been reading the shortages delaying builds or getting options removed. He told me my individual build will have all options chosen and that a delay is always a possibility but says my build does not show any indicator (what ever that means) of being delayed, like some other builds.

So I hope that all stays the same as what he said. lol
