Im late to the party but in today's environment and if that car is meaningful to you specwise, just get it. Lets say you hold out for invoice (which is 6%) you could lose the car to someone else for an 2% adjustment on what a 140k car (not sure what the msrp is) or 2800 bucks.

I think you tell them 4% and then show up and you feel the dealership personnel are being flexible in the moment, push for a few more dollars.

But if its gone, you are starting all over again.

Sage advice here. But make sure it is the exact car you want. Otherwise, PM me for my dealer contact here in Colorado if you are willing to wait for a build slot allotment and either drive/ship the car back to you. Don't try to price war one dealer against the other - if you go my route just make sure you want that custom order route....my dealer (GM) contact will treat you right and competitively.

This is interesting. Most seem to think that deals are not to be had anytime soon. MSRP does seem to be the new normal. Beginning to explore my options on a custom order MY22 M850. My SA shared that 8 series production/allocation has picked up some and hoping this trickles down to flagship money in the next few months. Could be blowing smoke so not getting my hopes up, but interested in seeing what December/January brings.

Sounds like a lot of smoke. Why would BMW increase production in order to offer larger discounts? With supply chain constraints, limited parts are better allocated to vehicles that are in high demand. I could be wrong, but it seems very improbable that there will be a lot of unsold vehicles to choose from in December/January. Furthermore, after a 13K MSRP "price reduction" for 2022, additional flagship money seems exceedingly unlikely.

For all in the market for an M8....I again recommend you visit Leasehackr. Here is a link to a broker who will source you a build slot (custom order) and their terms and rebates, etc. are all outlined in the spreadsheet, including a link to a calculator to show you exactly how the deal can be structured with variable fields:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...gid=1911616781

I'm seeing dealers quote individuals higher MF rates, so you should consider using a trusted broker - they have built a relationship with dealers and obtain discounts based on volume orders. It will save you money.

Thanks for that info. I don't see the M8 coupe on that list. Are they not producing any more M8 coupes? I've also talked to a few local dealers and they say the M8 coupes are a "special order." Not sure what that means.

According to the BMWUSA Build site, yes that model is still available: https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...exterior/color

I would contact a broker via their preferred method and begin a dialogue. Most of them only charge a flat $500 fee and it's worth it - saves you a LOT of time and hassle.

Leasehackr was very helpful on my last build/negotiation and have been using it to configure different options this time around.

Actually have used this brokers spreadsheet before. Very helpful as a starting pointing for negotiations. Personally reached out a couple times and wasn't the best of experiences so cutting my losses with that.

Hopefully my SA isn't blowing smoke. So far they've been pretty straight forward in what is achievable (hopefully) and what isn't. Only time will tell.

I had reached out to a couple of brokers, followed directions exactly as far as I could tell, got no response from either in the last 3 weeks unfortunately.

My guess is that the brokers are having a hard time locating vehicles and dealers that are willing to negotiate.

zero cars on the lots. dealerships aren't negotiating or dealing with brokers. only live customers on the lot for live cars in inventory.

Sage advice and why I walked away with my custom ordered 2020 M850i (pre-covid and everything else) with only a 4% discount off of MSRP. Getting what I wanted was worth more to me than 20%+ off of a 2019 that couldn't match my specs whatsoever.

Perhaps lost in translation but according to cars.com there are 96 2022 M8s on the lot and a few in addition to that already in transit. It's just a complete filter on M8s so that includes coupes and convertibles with the mast majority showing as M8Cs vs the M8 base.

That said though that is nothing in comparison to the 300+ on the lots with the 2020 deluge that along with covid-19 drove insane discounts. So it makes sense that dealers are not looking for leasing brokers "help" to move the inventory and cut into their desired profit margins.

I just put a deposit down on an M8 here in Colorado this week. I’ve been told 6-8 month wait due to custom color, British Racing Green. Told the order won’t be placed until the March/April timeframe. I’m curious if your contact thinks this might be accurate? First car I’ve ordered in my life, so not really familiar with the in’s and outs of doing so.

Here is a great resource and read for you. And yes custom color can add up to 10 weeks.

I have had a car on order since Sept.- Now stuck at plant waiting for parts- dealer has 13 other cars in same situation. I have bought 4 cars in the last 6 months and no way ever was there discounts avail- Porsche Targa, LR Defender, Mach 1 Mustang and M8 vert. The Targa and Defender can sell for 20k over right now. So I am not buying these discounts!
Another example my 2020 GT500 Shelby is on ebay bid 2k over msrp.

Good job selling the new GT500. Ran a guy the other day in one in my 1k hp E85 TRX and he had no clue how or why he was gapped so badly (from a 60 roll to about 140). I told him at least it looks fast.

The world's largest auto retailer normally has around 2000 cars on the lot, today its under 200
We should have bought every car in sight a year ago. And sold today for a big profits.

Hindsight is 20/20 but you're absolutely spot on. It would have seemed like a risky move at the time but of course to your point paying off in spades now.

For what it's with the same thing goes with building materials. OSB was going for 12 to 15 bucks a sheet depending on the volume of the buy and now sits at nearly $60 a sheet if you can find it so easily could get $70 a sheet with the law of supply and demand. Then again what's the fun in sitting on a stockpile of lumber when you can have 2 or 3 M8s to drive a bit while waiting to cash in on the profits.
