Did you ask them for it?? I did and they did add it. I personally never believe what the internet webpage says, instead I asked my SA to call them and ask for it.

Same here I asked my SA (it BW was not showing available on the site). Now my M850i GC is showing at the port awaiting transit…I called BMW Genius, so far now word of any deletions…Keeping my fingers cross.

The HK system is really good I think - giving it the time to bed in and getting the EQ set up correctly. The only thing it lacks is a bit of bass punch sometimes, but the overall sound quality and balance is spot on.

I've heard the B&W (albeit in a G30), and of course it's a step on from the HK, but to the tune of ~£4k I don't think so. The Burmester system in Mercedes is better than the B&W for example, and much cheaper.

There are also plenty of upgrade options (Bimmertech / Bavsound) who can provide full upgrades to the HK at a fraction of the B&W cost and will undoubtedly sound even better.

Obviously subjective but those claiming audiophile and really wanting the B&W system you can upgrade straight plug n play four roughly $1500 with speakers and sub, $1k w/o sub. Was curious so found found a few shops in SoCal ranging from $800-$1700 bluetooth enabled synced to car and pulse to beat, etc if folks really want fancy lights. https://www.bavsound.com/pages/build-your-kit?step=3.

To delay an entire build off something that you can do aftermarket does seem quite absurd but again, subjective. Would be interesting if anyone has been able to compare the aftermarket upgrade to the B&W provided by BMW in the exact same model/year for true comparison.

Even if went aftermarket, strictly for better sound quality, it's still coming out way cheaper than what BMW is trying to convince folks this system is worth (again subjective).

I ended up biting the bullet and accepting delivery of my M8GC that came without the ordered B&W system. Glad to be back in another M8.

The Fashion Grey M8 Coupe I had a deposit on is finally moved out of QC to awaiting carrier. Looks like it's still available if anyone's interested. It looks like RAM module closed also so there shouldn't be any delays at the port.
