I just turned in my Lexus CT200h which is the same drive train as the Prius and Lexus almost always has smoking lease deals on them so you might want to check into the CT. It was a very reliable car and I got roughly 48mpg on 87 octane in mixed driving. It was boring as hell but it was comfortable and fairly quiet.

Although if most of your commute is highway driving, then both are shit. Get a TDI and call it a day. For city driving, the i3 is fantastic. I was absolutely shocked how much I liked it. Fun fact, the i3's 0-30 mph time is the fastest of any BMW ever made. Not much but for the city, it's got PLENTY of juice. People in segways can accelerate faster than a Prius. |

I love this about my Vespa as well, nothing is going to touch it from a light. That is why I call it my Urban Assault Weapon. Sooo much fun! Although, it gets worse fuel economy than the Pious.
