Make sure you get a truck with a transmission oil cooler as well.
Get a 3/4 tonne Suburban or Expedition. They are designed to tow, much better than a 1/2 tonne pickup.

Not sure about the laws where OP is located, but here in Ontario, the laws are very different when towing with a truck or an SUV. All pickups are considered commercial vehicles, and the rules and regulations are ridiculous. Using an SUV, which is considered a Multi Passenger Vehicle, and you are exempt from all those rules and regulations.

Friend of mine got pulled over by the MTO (Ministry of Transport) that handle all the on road enforcement of commercial vehicles, while towing with a pickup, ended up with several thousand dollars in fines and points on his licence. He now tows with an SUV, smooth sailing.

Oh Onterrible, making the rest of Canada seem reasonable since 1972

People in the rest of the country use their pickups 90% of the time to get groceries
