Agree, I think it will be awesome. I would love to see the M256 I6 from my CLS (Turbo I6 + Mild Hybrid + Electric Supercharger) make its way to the next SL, but the 63 and 73 with the V8 are probably gonna be insane. I have always liked the SL, however I fell a bit out of love since the R230 which was nice but didn't do much for me and I never really liked the R231 at all so I really hope this new generation will be great.

New SL is looking almost production ready.

The take rate on the S Coupe was so low I don't think they could justify making it anymore.

MSRP will likely be announced later this month, or next month.

Finding the proportions don't look as dramatic as the current GT

Yup, my comment was specific to this model. I'm hoping BMW pair the S63TU with their electric platform… I'm still a fanboy I guess.

The only problem when u get a Benz is that you also get their customer service which is absolute garbage. I'm still dealing with a gtc roadster that's a piece of junk, have to go thru lemon process because MBUSA refuses to do anything about it. I regret giving my m850 away...

+1 on this comment. Hands down worst dealership experience I've ever had. Both the sales and service departments are horribly bad.

1. As im leaving the dealership light comes on too much oil 2. 5 miles further down subwoofer buzzing 3. 200 miles later engine light 4. 20 miles after that engine light 5. 4 error messages simultaneously including rear wheel steering failure, traction control off and 2 others I can't remember 6. High end optional burmester sounding like garbage 7. Coolant level low so far twice (car has not hit 10k mile mark yet) 8. Knock from behind dash 9. Weird rattle that dealership cannot figure out, they had car for 9 days and I actually think it's worse now 10. Add the overall customer experience from Benz USA and the idiotic dealership and yeah... This was my Karen post from a few months ago, had more frustration since then. Never again with a Benz. Wish I could get my m850 back, now hunting for m8 lol https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10159438750558673&id=64654367 2 |

That sucks.
The oil message is common with 4.0 liter AMG engines. It’s just a sensor message that shows up occasionally and everyone ignores. Service has a hard time with dry sump engine oil changes. The rest is uncool but nothing major IMO. Our M8 and most other 8 series 2020 models had catastrophic AC failures requiring complete compressor exchanges (I think also the evaporator) taking cars out of service for weeks to months depending on part availability. Had to happen during summer of course… That also sucked but since then the car has been a blast. It doesn’t blemish my experience. Issues like this can happen and everything depends of how a dealer/manufacturer handles it. Problem with the AMG GT models is that very few are made and most service departments are clueless how to service them properly (some dealers/cities excluded). Hope you’ll find a good resolution to your issues |

The engine lights however led to my car being in the shop for a week while they were changing coils and spark plugs and doing diagnostics to figure out what the issue was. Concerning as the car had less than 2k miles at that point The coolant was also concerning to me. Having to top off twice with the car under 10k miles is crazy. The audio issues as also kind of a big deal to me. The first issue with the subwoofer I didn't find that severe as they acknowledged it and repaired it. The audio distortion that I have now however, they are refusing to even acknowledge its an issue. It's not even something subjective as I'm not talking about the depth of the sound or something. There's clear distortion at higher frequencies even at medium volume... Anyways, horrible experience overall. Most of the issues I wouldn't have cared for ie rattles, creaks, busted subwoofer, peeling off carbon fiber, rear steering failure etc if the coolant and engine lights weren't issues and if my audio worked fine. The most infuriating thing is mercedes usa customer service... not the car itself. They seem to think that all of those issues are acceptable and not worthy of even an apology |
