When my father thought he finally "made it", an 840ci was his purchase. He didn't think (at the time) it could get any better.
I still remember my first time seeing the beautiful black machine. Took my breath away. Still have a major soft spot for that car, especially the unicorn 850csi with the manual trans.

I bought my X5M from the owner of this 850. Awesome review, such a cool car that he really takes care of.

It's amazing what a difference the interior color and some wood can make. Most 8-series have horrid looking grey interiors with plastic trim.
Also, wheels make a world of a difference. The 840's "fan" wheels make the car look ugly. |

I no longer look for these here in the U.S. since there usually about one or two for sale at any given time.
Spend some time on mobile.de and there are numerous E31 850CSi's and some in BMW Individual colors and interiors. And the E31 840i M Sport with a V8 and 6-Speed manual are also on there. Has the CSi aero and wheels so look close. That website is an utterly dangerous rabbit hole to venture down into, you have been warned. Someday an 850CSi will be mine! |
