what's up with audi engines?

I love the look of audi's new line (especially the A5), but why are the engines so tiny? I mean in europe, it's normal because gas is so expensive, but here (using the A5 as an example), 46k for a 2.0L with 211 horsepower is just really expensive. Mercedes and BMW adjust for location, why not audi?

just curious

Because the 3.2L v6 wasn't selling well and they use their s-cars to compete against upper level non-M, non AMG cars.

I like their 2.0T better than the 3.2. I thought it felt more usable and had more torque down low.

Garage List
CAFE MPG & emissions requirements by 2016 are part of the reason.
