Whats the widest wheel size I can go on a M850i?

Hey everyone. I’m thinking of going with 21” wheels for my 2022 m850i gran coupe & was wondering what was the widest I’d be able to go? I know theres a difference between the M8 & M850. Can I go wider then a 21x9.5 (front) & a 21x11 (rear) ? Also I wanna know if I have to use 255/30/21 (front) & a 295/25/21 (rear) or can i go with a 30 profile in the rear? Lets say a 285/30/21 or something like that? Any help would be appreciated thanks. 🤙🏻

Not running 21's but upsized wheels/tires from stock. 9x20 255/35/20 fronts and 10.5x20 295/30/20 rears. I don't have poke. If anything the fronts could come out a bit more. Having Ben r33_RGSport lower it next week and should be fine.

Would love to see current pic of your setup and then an after pic once you lower it. Been thinking about upsizing similar to yours (when the car arrives) but keep factory height. Unlike my former vette I don't want to jeopardize this warranty by dropping in coilovers. Not yet anyway.

I definitely plan on taking plenty of pics before and after. The wheel/tire setup looks more aggressive even without lowering it so can only imagine.

I have my fingers crossed won't have to mess with the camber, I don't think there's poke but a couple folks have looked at it and said maybe 3-4mm poke, depends on angle I guess. Probably b/c went with somewhat aggressive offset in rears (35et vs. stock 45et) Either way like it better than stock.

I am fiddling with this atm. Each to his own but I think the 20x11 is sticking out, at least from what I see in the pic.

Could be the angles, but it does look like they're sticking out a fair amount. This might be the first M850 I've seen with 11's in the rear. I say that running 10.5 in the rear myself and having possible poke (it's kinda hard to tell, at least to me).

I believe the M8 and M850i have the same width in the rear. I was told that 11.5” with 305 Michelin PS 4 would fit perfectly. One has to remember that not every tire will look/sit the same.

Hey guys, I’m trying to put M8 813 wheels on a 850i coupe… given the this convo, it sounds like it’ll fit without any modifications?

I’ve spoken to 4 dealerships and they’ve all scratched their head on this…

Per buying guide:
M850 is 8" fronts, 9" rears
M8 is 9.5" fronts and 10.5" rears

My M850 looks like the rear wheels could extend out another 15mm or so. The rear OEM 728 wheel has an offset of 41mm. The M8 813 wheel has an offset of 28mm. So, those 13mm will fill the gap, but you still have to account for half of the extra 1.5" on the new wheel width - another19mm. The willtheyfit.com site showed the 706 outer ri poking out an additional 32mm.

I'm looking at the same problem. Only I have M5 706M (same width and offsets as the 813) wheels. Trying to use my old M5 snow wheels as M850 snow wheels. I don't think it will work. The BMW website even shows the M8 axel track is 10mm narrower on the rear axel and the overall axel width is 10mm wider (outside wheel to outside wheel). So, there's just more room for the bigger meats on an M8 under the fender.

My other question is how much space is between the OEM wheel and the suspension strut. Some of this could be solved with more offset if the wheel can just snug up closer to the strut.

Anyone think the following would work on my m8 vert without poke or rubbing?
20x10 et15 front
20x11 et15 rear
Oem tires 275 and 285

Alternatively has anyone ran a square wheel eg. 20x10 all around setup?
Thanks!

Did you ever get a chance to post pics of your setup? I would love to see how it looks.

When I saw you live in the Bronx, I was thinking to myself 21's don't stand a chance of survival....

Just gave up on my 20's, too many potholes in CT. Defintely worse in NYC. Wish you luck

EDIT: I see they've been sold....looks really nice

Are your wheels pushing outside the edge of the fenders? I actually have 12mm spacers front/back and have almost a flush look. I want to replace my tire with MP4S and thinking of going with 285/30/20 on the rear but worried the tires may go outside the fenders!

Any idea what is the best way to measure from current set up to get an idea of how it will look if I go with 285s?

I'm running 285/30/20 on the stock 728 wheel with a 12mm spacer in the rear lowered on KW HAS. I have no rubbing and its very close to flush with the fender. I've had no problems at all.
