M8 orders?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Are M8 and M8C available for order yet? If so anyone place an order yet? Had some fun playing with config but wow it's expensive. I did expect it to be north of 150k for well spec'd car. This might be high expectations but I think this car could be one of BMW 's best cars. May be a tick faster then M5 but is it worth 40-50k more? Thoughts?

Does the coupe come standard with the CF roof? This could be why it's cheaper. The GC comes standard with the panoramic moon roof.

Ahh true, there is no hole in the roof available on a Coupe, but on a Coupe you can order the Carbon roof.

Either way, there won't be much difference in total cost between those two body styles.

I put a deposit down on a M8 cp, msrp $158,995. As it turns out they cannot process the build yet. They also said the options list has not been finalized and will contact me before processing the build. No clue when they will be able to do that.

ditto

I also "ordered" a m8 comp a couple weeks ago... the dealer has really no idea when the production numbers will become available and when it will be placed. He mentioned a Sept/Oct timeframe. How is it they can't know this? They have the configurators online... Let me know when you head something

Here is my build:
https://www.bmwusa.com/build-your-ow...7nrxel/summary

I guess I can visit the build page over the next couple weeks until I have a production number I can obsess over

My dealer was pretty clear that I would have to pay the msrp price.

mhbrownie thanks for sharing your build. I have the same wheels on my m850i and think they look great, mostly black but just a little bit of bling. The Bowers+Wilkins looks just sensational especially with the lighting option, still working on how to optimise the sound. I know how you feel on the wait - please see my post ‘still waiting down under’ - hopefully you don’t have to wait that long!!

Yeah, I originally had black on black... (and I may go back once the ability to place the order becomes real). I just felt black on black was almost a little too much of a fad if that makes sense? The wheels I got are only available on the M8 whereas I can get black wheels on any of the models. I liked the little bit of brushed aluminum in the wheels to offset the complete black of the rest of the car.

Ditto on the bling . I have a B&W system in my 2016 750 and really like it. I am not one looking to artificially pump out a ton of bass which I do think may be somewhat lacking if that is your goal. I believe I read that the 8series B&W will come with a microphone to allow you to equalize the sound in the cabin but I could have been dreaming. I found that Stage setting in my 7 and tweaking bass/treble and a few other eq settings makes for quite engaging listening. I have a nice (~7k) system at home that focuses on accurately reproducing the original sound of the recordings and I feel the B&W does a good job considering the listening environment is a small space moving at 70+ MPH.

Overall the lighting effects in the cabin of the 7 series (and the very similar 8) walk the fine line between cool and over the top but overall I like them.

Anyone else disappointed that Tanzanite II Blue was not available in the M8?

My wife and I had picked that out when our original build was an m850i. The other blues available for the M8 just weren't as deep blue as that so we went with the black metallic.

Yep, I did get a $1500 "loyalty discount" which I believe will vary by market and your dealers motivation of course.

That's Tanzanite II Blue? I wish they had that for the M8, Black metallix was my second choice, but should still be awesome.

It will still be available as an individual order if you want to pay extra
