I could probably add a few more things like Rear Axel Steer, Burmeister Audio, and Park Assist. Could probably add more stuff too, I love the chalk paint.

All in all a fully loaded m8 is not cheap but compared to the competition some may consider it a bargain.
I think people need to calm down and realize that lately we get A LOT of standard features. It's your personal problem if you want to load up your car with the all the bs safety features lol A "base" M8 is not bad at all in the options list.

I also don't think a 911 owner will cross shop these cars. I've said this so many times, but I don't see this competing with anything else other than it's S class counterparts and in that sense it's winning the segment.

It was the launch 'vert colour. It looks like Sakhir Orange I think.

^^ A 992 C4S costs between $130,000 to $140,000 nicely equipped.
That's even better!
And it's not really Apples to Oranges, it's more like Granny Smith Apples vs Fuji Apples.
Cox's Orange Pippin you mean?

When I spend $140k tax in for a base M8, I look at every other car I can get for the money. S-Coupe, R8, Aston, 911, etc. If I can get a vehicle in a different class within the same price range, then it is a competitor. You don't compete only in one category: price. You compete in multiple and usually class and price are bundled together.

I don't need a 7-seater SUV like the X7, but with a small price difference between that and the X5 it pushes me over consider an X7 instead.

At $133k starting price and an expected $150k our the door with some options, this is a car that it's out of its league and 3 years later it'll loose a lot of value. Taking a 30-40% hit over 3 years hurts a lot whether you have smart money or stupid money.

This is a $110k car at best. I'd still love those M8s out there but they are not priced for the conscious buyer.

Anyone else open the thread with initial fear of the price?

Just not worth the price...maybe down the road and find one heavily discounted but i doubt bmw will mass produce the m8 like they did the i8

850i for me .

My crystal ball tells me there will be a lot of M8 leases in the future. Lol!
Use the current M5 residuals to estimate the M8 lease residuals of 52%/54%/55%. Give it around 2 years for BMWFS to pump up sales and inflate the residuals, similar to the current 2020 F93 10k/yr of 60%, but that model is near the last year of production. Look on the bright side that the M2 residuals will always be lower.

How long until BMW NA offers $5,000 incentive for the base M8 similar to the current base M5?

You'll have to order $3,500 full leather for the base M8 which is standard for the competition so $9,500 difference. How much is the M exhaust worth and 813M wheels?

ED pick up is $12,350 price difference.

I think that this is a beautiful car, but it is a re-badged 6. No crime, no foul. But a re-badged 6 for Porsche 911 money makes no sense. I love BMWs (I've owned them since the 1980s), but this car is no 911. Not close.

What's the opinion of the 1st edition colors? It will be some frozen shade of blue for an extra $15,000 premium, as only 350 units made world wide.

Hi buddy how are you? Long time no see.... speaking of residual, its even worse then M850 so should be something like 53%.... with todays MF I bet its over 2k per month lease payment!!!

Believe me a 140k BMW after 3 years will lose at least 70k....
When I returned my 120k M6 at the end of the lease, dealer put 58k sticker on the car as CPO!!!

What makes it even worse: It's GT3 money in Germany. A fully specced M8 Competition is GT3 RS money.

But difficult to compare the cars. I know Porsches are quite good for everyday living, but still nothing close to a 8 series. Therefore...you can get a nice V8 Bentley Continental for that...
