The only questionable benefits I see would be:
* To virtually paint BMW M Automobiles as some sort of quality label indicating a distinct range within the BMW lineup (➡ whole M range separation).
* All the while conversely providing a more logical comprehension for a BMW newbie who barely gets to know BMW's lineup structure from ads and from the official website, whereby the M8 for instance wouldn't appear as some sort of disconnected model but as a (top) version of the 8er to begin with, amongst other versions (➡ individual M models integration).

But this in turn diminishes the value and impact of BMW M's model names, which on the contrary should be promoted wherever possible to become icons in and of themselves, and it precisely conflicts with the 'THE M8' slogan which is also being spread out concomitantly. They'd better focus on the products instead of this bullcrap.
Good points. I think they should stop diluting the brand by putting the ///M badge on every car. You can even order a 2er Active Tourer with a ///M package (don't ask me why) and then you have a ///M badge on the front fenders!!

///M Performance is also something they could re-consider...I understand that there should be something between regular BMW's and the M version. Let's take the M135i (now M140i). Before, it was just a e82 135i. What changed by putting the ///Marketing badge on it? BMW is diluting M. This begins with the different versions of cars. You start with M4. Then there's a M4 Competition Package. Then there is a M4 CS and on the top, a M4 GTS. Don't forget the various M Performance parts. In the past (even though I was a kid then and didn't know anything) when you got a BMW M, it meant that you have the TOP car you could have of the series. Simple as that.

I hope BMW will get their stuff together...
I really liked how they had the 335is for a couple years. Wish they would return to that.

I want to get an M850i GC but will never shake off feeling like a poser when i say "M"

It's a shame that it is not mechanically that exciting essentially being F90 M5 underneath. I expected more competition against AMG GT S.

Very nice looking though, only short of their concept GC.
If only man... This is what we were under the impression we would be getting a couple of years ago.... but that never transpired.

Technical wise, I feel like they put little effort other than twerking electronics for end users to have more gimmicks.

This was one car BMW should have perfected it and they refused to offer any innovative technology from their race car. No trans axle DCT, no RWD option, and a mega 1900kg with most likely 55:45 weight distribution.

I'm having a hard time seeing who will buy this over a 911 or AMG GTR.

Seeing how young the current head of M is, maybe it was the board's intention to put someone with very little power so he can't push crazy ideas like his predecessors used to excluding Van Meel.

I am that one who chose M8 (already order) over 911 and AMG GTR. No one just dont know how M8 is and say that is kinda disappoint. For me I think it:
- Fast
- can be easy modded to 800+ hp for sure not like 911 and amg gtr
- beauty exterior
- much step up in interior luxury for BMW
- new and rare
- will be many tuning options to customize it
- daily
- cost less than others for bigger pros for me

I am not that type of track racers Sure it will surprise after someone reviews.

Yes it does. According to Thomas from Autogefuhl the M8 comes with integral active steering. The rear steering is active.

Well if BMW Munich says so I'd take their word over Thomas. Car journalists do make mistakes.

Saw a black M850ix in the flesh yesterday. Parked on the street. Just Wow! Such a great looking car, looks way smaller than online photos. Want is strong, but funds don't match. Congrats to all the new owners.

Drag Race M8 comp vs AMG GT63s

Hello, lovely people, I wanted to share an episode I just made from our tiny country Bulgaria, in the South of Europe. It is all about the M8 comp vs AMG GT63s. Apologies for not being able to find an m8 grancoupe, but as a tiny channel I am still quite limited in terms of connections with BMW That said, I hope, it is an episode worth watching and you will find interesting. Small hint, that m8 is out of this world! And most importantly, congrats to all bmw m8 owners, I myself with my x4 m40i g02 am hoping to be able to upgrade soon. Thanks guys and have a good day!
