The 8er is obviously sleeker than the 6er but you'd expect that from a new model. I'm still not a fan of changing the name to 8 series, the 6 series has been the best looking car in BMWs lineup (aside from the Z) for 2 generations now. I don't believe the 6er deserved the hunchback of notre dam (6GT) model they gave it. Such a shame, this 8er is gorgeous but should have stayed named a 6er. It's obvious where it's lineage comes from. I think there is/was room for a proper halo car that should have been given the 8er badge

Interesting comparison, liked both. Loved 8 series more for the fact it's 1.5" shorter than 6 series with great proportion. Would be interesting to see M8/Gran Coupe length.

The 3er coupe moved up the chain to 4er a few years back and now the 6er has moved up to 8er. I'm not a fan of either move.. but the 4 series coupe has survived and I am sure the 8 will as well. Last edited by M3 Adjuster; 06-15-2018 at 07:44 PM.. |

One word mate, MONEY. They can justify the price of the new car if it's 8 series.

I thought that 6 was going to be hard to make it look dated, the GC is just perfect.
Now the new 8 just bashed that though pretty hard, good job BMW the new car is beautiful in every way you look at it. |

I was thinking the same thing - not a fan of the 8er rear at all.
And those ridiculous tailpipe chasms....

What is the length difference to the current M4? I know from previous BMW M School the 6 series was a boat on the track compared to the nimble E92 M.

About 7.08" longer than F82 M4. G16 8 Series is also 1.85" shorter than F12 M6. Would expect the length of new M4 to be the same as F82 M4 if not shorter. Hopefully that means BMW is moving toward nimble again.
