M8 looks pretty fresh, and judging by M850 reviews, (I’m yet to drive one) I’m sure the driving dynamics are going to be pretty good. But for 140K+ I’d rather have either the new 992 Carrera C2S or Panamera GTS in my garage. |

Seriously? BMW 8er Coupe M Automobile? Why you call it that way on the Homepage, but also refer to „Das neue BMW M8 Coupé"? (see below) Saw that as well on other cars recently (see below) M2 Comp, M5 Limo... but M4 is branded as M4, but BMW 2er Coupé M Automobile??? Is this like something new or what? Thanks for any guidance...

The only questionable benefits I see would be: * To virtually paint BMW M Automobiles as some sort of quality label indicating a distinct range within the BMW lineup (➡ whole M range separation). * All the while conversely providing a more logical comprehension for a BMW newbie who barely gets to know BMW's lineup structure from ads and from the official website, whereby the M8 for instance wouldn't appear as some sort of disconnected model but as a (top) version of the 8er to begin with, amongst other versions (➡ individual M models integration). But this in turn diminishes the value and impact of BMW M's model names, which on the contrary should be promoted wherever possible to become icons in and of themselves, and it precisely conflicts with the 'THE M8' slogan which is also being spread out concomitantly. They'd better focus on the products instead of this bullcrap. Last edited by advantage20; 06-06-2019 at 05:23 AM.. |

My comments are the same as most others here:
1) Disappointed it doesn't look aspiration or special enough for BMW's Flagship M. 2) Too expensive in my opinion. If I was dropping that much money on a 4 seater vehicle, I'd much rather have a new 992, Panamera, or Mercedes G63 AMG (I know it's completely different, but price point is almost the same). 3) I hope the GC version looks better. Either this or one of the aforementioned models will be my next family car in ~4 years when I can pick one of them up CPO for 50% of new MSRP. 4) That spoiler looks absolutely hilarious & I'd be embarrassed to show it off to my friends who would definitely make numerous "small spoiler jokes". It needs to be taken off completely or replaced with a proper size aftermarket one STAT. 5) The rear M8 badge placement is a fail. Debaging will be mandatory on this model. 6) The rest looks great, no other constructive criticism. 7) LOVE those competition coupe wheels! My 2 cents...... |

Fuel consumption still unknown?
I've made a 3'000km roundtrip in Germany with my i8 last week and forced the car to a targeted 200km/h pace on the Autobahn (253 max. test included) with lot's of breaking and acceleration phases. I finally had 7,6L/100km and never ran out of battery despite heavy use of E-Boost, obviously thanks to the really genius recuperation concept. Still waiting to understand the smart and innovative aspects of this M8 |

They call 7200 rpm high revving now?
Redline is exactly the same as the grandpa F10 M5.

Strangely though, BMW North America has on the other hand chosen to market the M5 competition in the U.S in the same state of engine tune as the rest of the world; 617 bhp (625PS) |

On another note has anyone noticed how BMW has "sneakily" increased the price difference between the regular M8 models and the competition models. There is now a whopping $13,000 price difference between the M8 coupe ($133,000) & M8 competition coupe ($146,000)!!! There's only about a $7300 difference between the M5 ($102,700) and M5 competition ($110,000). Previously, there was only a $6000 price difference between the M6 coupe and the M6 competition coupe though one can argue that the M6 competition was just an added package rather than a whole stand-alone model in the lineup. |

///M Performance is also something they could re-consider...I understand that there should be something between regular BMW's and the M version. Let's take the M135i (now M140i). Before, it was just a e82 135i. What changed by putting the ///Marketing badge on it? BMW is diluting M. This begins with the different versions of cars. You start with M4. Then there's a M4 Competition Package. Then there is a M4 CS and on the top, a M4 GTS. Don't forget the various M Performance parts. In the past (even though I was a kid then and didn't know anything) when you got a BMW M, it meant that you have the TOP car you could have of the series. Simple as that. I hope BMW will get their stuff together... |

What I meant is that, from a healthy marketing shandpoint, hardcore M models and M Performance models should be named by their actual name (M8, M4, M850i...) all over the place, hammering these in the conscious and subconscious mind of the public for the names themselves to become icons as much as the actual cars (hopefully they actually deliver as well). Now however BMW's communication is confusing, as the M8 for instance is named either 'THE M8' or '8 Series Coupé M Automobile' depending on the media platform (ads, videos, configurator), which is just idiotic. |

I agree with you. I just think BMW should rather rebrand their M Performance cars, as M850i includes the (marketing) M letter and when you read it, you say M8(50i...). Better than calling the real M car 8 Series Coupé M Automobile', they rather focus on giving their M Performance cars another name. Maybe SCOTT26 can say something about this discussion? |

BMW should sell something like M8 pure with RWD and transaxle DCT like their race car as another option.
It's a shame that it is not mechanically that exciting essentially being F90 M5 underneath. I expected more competition against AMG GT S. Very nice looking though, only short of their concept GC.
