nono, i mean your turbo....not the turbo S....i can't even find one here.....

but the turbo i'm seeing is selling for 20K, but it says there's only 80K km on it....kinda fishy....haha...

btw, which fuel you filled that car with? i'm guessing 91? i heard using 94 or above on a car that old is not good or something....

Just had to reply to this... it's not true at all. The balance and very tight steering in all the 944's make them an absolute blast to drive (I have a Boxster S and I actually miss the '87 924S that I owned many years ago). The n/a's are underpowered and do not respond to mods no matter what chip makers claim (highly recommend the poster stay away from the n/a's), but a well taken care of turbo will make anyone happy. There's a large enthusiast community (I like 944online) with a ton of info available.

All that said, I wouldn't trade a 335i for one, but they're perfect for a second car project.

I would wait for a Turbo S... Too much to do to standard turbos to make them up to snuff. Also buy 1986 and up.... There were some wheel offset differences with the earlier turbos.

I used 94 octane but that because I had a chipped car.... It was faster than a 335i

In 1988, there was the regular 217 hp Turbo and then the 247 hp Turbo S
In 1989 and 1990, all Turbos were "Turbo S", 247 hp, M030 suspension, 928S4 brakes

So shoot for a 1989 or 1990 Turbo. Also in 1990, the rear hatch had the same wing as the as the 968

What year did the motor on the 944 go from a 2.5 to 3.0 liters? I remember it being (and probably still is) the largest production 4-cylinder engine in the world.

http://www.connact.com/~kgross/FAQ/944faq02.html

See the displacement column. The Turbos were all 2.5 liters, but the 3.0 first showed up in an n/a in '89.

The rest of that FAQ is great, too.
