I was expecting this to start in the 120's so this is a good start (I suppose - as if I was going to be able to afford one of these in the first place!).

I agree .. they've kept the price below M4 GTS level so that's a good start.

M8 Coupe will start at $121,000 USD then I bet. M8 Gran Coupe $124,000 USD. Of course all before 25% Trump tariff.

This M850i seems to be priced against the SL550 ($112,300). If the M8 is priced to compete with the SL63 it will have a base price of just under $152,850. I'm guessing the M8 will cost $145k. Way above $124k for sure.

I think M8 Coupe will start @ around $135K - 140K USD and M8 GranCoupe @ around $140K - 145K USD.
Overall, I think the U.S market M850i Coupe is priced competitively considering;
(a) It's comprehensive list of standard equipment (much of which is optional in other markets e.g laser lights, active roll stabilization, merino leather)
(b) Other cars in the same class e.g S560 coupe which starts @ $124,500 USD

How much of that price is VAT though? We still pay state sales tax on our cars, so in TX it's another 6.25%, in Chicago it's another 8.75% and I'm sure other places have it worse.

the price is VAT included, without VAT is around 105k, vat is as I saw 25%.. I dont live in BEL, just saw on their website still, even if you add 6% on 111k, is less than 130k, and to mention again, no lasers for 130k

I'd wait for a lease return to pop up in a few years. If the 7 series is any indication, the 8's will drop in value significantly in a few years.

Right, but that's just VAT vs US state sales tax. That's true for every car.

EXACTLY! That's what I'm hoping for too. I scored my current BMW at almost 50% off sticker being only 3 years old, I'm hoping the same on this car.

People would really buy this over the less expensive M5?

I guess style has a cost (a steep one)

So when will the $85k coupe come out? They need something between this and 4 series

These are emotional cars, it's silly to think that people should be following some algorithm to determine a mathematically-optimum decision, like a computer or something.

Yeah the only emotion this vehicle will induce is sadness/depression once the realization hits that you spent 120k on a base car with less features than a fully loaded X5M but costs 30% more.
