M850i is not the most comfortable car ...
" M ' means ...more uncomfortable. 🤪. As someone just posted , any M car is more hard core than its sub . No rubber bushings on M8 for better " handling ". M850i sounds more a V8 than the M8 because the M8 cylinder head flow and manifolds are a different design. I'd buy an M8 and put a cushion under my but on BUMpy roads . 😮 |

Gotta say my M550 had the best seats, ever. That goes a long way, but the ride was also very nice. During my M5 days I had a friend get the LCI M550. I drove it, but thought it was a little sloppy after spending about 25,000 miles in the M5.....duh. I didn't feel that way going into the M850. To me, it handles better than the M550, but some of that is due to swapping out the skinny OEM wheels for a fatter setup. The ride seems nicer- it's just overall a better car. And it sits lower. I love hammering it in sport+ on a 2 lane twisty.

I think most people say the Alpina is actually the softest ride 8 series-wise....

I have PDCC as well on the GTS which while it makes the car stiffer it also creates a better "settling" event with the car when being pushed with speed over less than optimal roads. The GTS has the Turbo suspension (992's) with the rear helper/tender spring set up. I just personally feel the M8 dampers are too taut because I feel the thuds (not the ones I want) on slower speed road issues while the car can overflex at higher speeds too. Again, its not a huge deal because my roads are great but the Porsche and my R8 easily excel over the M8 road quality and feel. Obviously subjective but since I own the cars and drive them on the same roads, thats factual to me.

I'll be honest if you haven't considered looking at the 718 Chassis you might wanna take a look, unless you need the larger car. This won't be liked by many but the newer 911's to me are not on par with my expectations of P cars, however the 718 with the Flat 4.0 is one of the best P cars I have ever driven and owned. You get so much more for less.

If you are trying to cut costs a little, nor sure, but you could simply get the m850 and put kw v3 in. You'll have great handling characteristics and power.
Mine will be going in soon. The handing got better indeed with wider tires and wheels on all 4 corners. |
